The contact owns a 1999 Honda Passport. While driving any speed the vehicle experienced an extended stopping distance when the brakes were depressed. The ABS warning light remains illuminated. The dealer stated there was a problem with the anti lock brake system. The dealer repaired the vehicle per recall# 02I002001. The failure continued to occur. The current and failure mileage were 107,000.
1999 Honda Passport experiencing problems with brake equipment and engine revving at idle. The ABS light stays on even though vehicle was in for recall. The brakes goes out when vehicle hit a bump at 10 mph. The brake pedal goes all the way to the floor when coming to a stop causing extended stopping distance.
About a month after purchasing vehicle, brakes failed or shuddered a couple of times when braking at low speeds. Finally ABS light went on and according to the manual this means the ABS brake system is no longer working - have had no braking problems since. Dealer says it's a rear switch that's out, and wants over $200 to replace, but I haven't fixed it since research leads me to believe the ABS system is faulty anyway. Have a daughter I don't want injured in a crash due to faulty brakes.
The consumers vehicle was broadsided by another motorist after making a left turn. In an attempt to stop the vehicle, the consumer depressed the brake pedal. The pedal went to the floor and failed to stop the vehicle. As a result the vehicle went down a hill and impacted a stone wall. The driver sustained back injuries. Prior to the accident, the vehicle had several brake failures. The ABS warning light illuminated once. These brake failures occurred after the recall for the ABS 02I002001 was performed.
While driving 20 mph on the highway and making a left into an intersection driver applied brakes and consumer's vehicle skidded into another vehicle, causing a collision. The ABS braking light was on dashboard. Consumer drove vehicle to dealer for analysis, but the mechanic could not duplicate the problem.

Owner received recall notice 02I002001 concerning ABS brakes. Dealer did not have the parts to perform the repairs. Dealer stated that consumer would receive notification when the parts become available.
While driving ABS light would come on, then the vehicle would have extended stopping distance. Consumer had been to the dealership on three separate occasions, but problem is still occurring.
After vehicle was service for recall 02-I-002-001 on brake light switch, vehicle has been experiencing ongoing problems with the brake system. Consumer stated vehicle was running without warranty.
Consumer purchased the vehicle from the insurance company with a salvaged title. Consumer received recall letter 021002001 concerning ABS took vehicle to the dealer for repair. Dealer would not honor the recall because their records show that the vehicle was a total loss.
The ABS light came on every six months. The dealer had been constantly replacing parts. Consumer stated with each occurrence, the incident was more crucial and major then the previous. Honda had serviced the vehicle after every occurrence.
Breaking problems cause me to be involve in a wreck upon entering an intersection I hit a small bump in the highway and the breaks let off causing me to turn into the center lane where I was hit by a truck. The ABS light came on when starting the car, and a lound winding sound came out of the engine compartment. The ABS motor was continuing to run, even with the car turned off. I had to disconnect it to get it stop so I could take it to the shop. The cost of getting it fixed was $1750, which wasn't covered under warranty.
The ABS sensor on the car has malfunctioned. I have done research and this has also occurred to 14 other people. Numerous others ahve complained about abnormal braking modulations, and sensations while braking. Including that the brakes skipping.
ABS system pump was continuously running with keys removed from ignition. Pump was extremely hot to the touch and had to be disabled by removing the ABS system fuse. ABS system failure light came on and is still on. No problems with brake system prior to this failure. Car was serviced for exhaust pipe replacement 1 day prior to ABS system failure.
Vehicles ABS system seems to activate at very low sppeds thus rendering them ineffective, braking becomes poor, vehicle continues to roll at low speeds with the brake applied and while on dry pavement.
Was coasting to a stop at a red light. Applied brakes on a rough surface and the brakes failed to bring vehicle to a stop. Had to use the emergency brake to halt the vehicle. The vehicle would not stop even after trying to re-apply the brakes. \ had to shut off vehicle and restart then the brakes started to work again. Took vehicle to dealer, and mechancs stated that it was a normal function when driving over a rough surface for the tires to unlock as part of the ABS system. Dealer drove with me to a gravel parking area and sped vehicle and stepped on brakes and it did to him what it did to me. He stated that this was a normal function. This has happened 8 times this year alone and continues to scare the heck out of me when it happens. 2 times almost caused me to bump another vehicle from behind but used emergency break to halt vehicle.
While driving at 40 mph the ABS light came on, . then ABS motor started to make a high pitch noise and continued on, even after vehicle was turned off. Consumer had to disconnect battery to turn off ABS motor. Dealer was notified.
