On 01/24/2023 with IdleStop engaged car stalled on busy intersection during rush hour and couldn't be restarted. Since Honda vehicles don't have a shift interlock anymore we couldn't move vehicle since it automatically went into "Park". Car is currently at the dealer who is unable to do repairs due to lack of ECU modules.

With less than 1,000 miles this car had to go in multiple times for a radio electrical issue, floor harness, IP harness etc replaced. Now at 60,000 I-€™m getting transmission failure faults where my car will stall out and not engage. HUGE safety issue. Now I-€™m waiting 2 weeks to get into a dealership

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The contact stated that on several occasions while coming to a stop at a stop light, the vehicle lost motive power and the transmission shifted into neutral(N) as the crash mitigation warning light illuminated. The contact stated that she was able to restart the vehicle after turning off the vehicle. The contact shifted into park(P) and then back to drive(D). Additionally, the contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle lost motive power and the transmission independently shifted into neutral(N). The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was then taken to a local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000.

This problem has occurred 4 times since purchased. The first withing the first 8 months, the last yesterday (7/29/2022). What happens is once stopped at light, when the car stops running to save gas and is supposed to start up when the brake is released, the car does not restart leaving you dead stopped in the road. The indicator shows you are in neutral gear, engine not restarting from the releasing break. Hitting the start button does nothing. Only once did I get a message on dash that said put in park, than put in drive. Out of the 4 times this happened, all but one happened at a stop where the engine went off waiting for foot to come off break. Once it happened when I made a U turn and coming out of the turn, the engine was in N. It happens so unexpected that it is difficult to stay composed and work through a routine to get it started again, especially when there is a line of cars behind waiting to go. I have not been able to duplicate the problem. I have reported it to my Honda service center and they say there is nothing in the computer to help them find and fix the problem. The concern is a safety issue when this occurs and a car comes up behind me seeing a green light, expecting me to go and they not slowing down. This problem has been reported on the Honda Passport Blog by a couple others.

We were driving on and entering the highway via the on-ramp when we heard a popping noise. Upon hearing the noise the car stalled and was immediately put in neutral. We could not take it out of neutral or restart the car. We had the car towed to the nearest dealership to find out the transmission needed to be replaced. The car has 36k miles and we just purchased it 6 weeks ago. There were no warnings or signs that this failure was about to occur.

Was traveling at speed of 20 mph on a residential street when engine suddenly paused and car shifted into neutral. There was no indication of an impending engine failure. Emission warning lights came on and i was unable shift the car out of neutral to move it off to the side of the road. After multiple attempts to restart the engine, i was able to engage it in drive and move the vehicle to safe location. Took it to Honda dealer who diagnosed the problem as Code P0810 (clutch position control error). The transmission control module was replaced. The dealer contacted Honda who suggested that it could ultimately result in a 2 step repair if the problem recurs. They were unable to reproduce the problem immediately after the repair. The 2nd step would involve replacing the engine harness for $6000. While this definitely posed a risk to safety, it will be a larger safety risk if it fails again while traveling at highway speeds. The technician reported 80% confidence that the situation will not happen again. I am concerned that Honda has shown a reluctance to spend the money to completely mitigate the problem unless they are forced to do so putting their profits ahead of the safety of drivers. Even a 20% risk of failure is unacceptable.

The right axle boot has a layer of grease on the outside and was suspected of being cracked. My vehicle is under it's original 36,000 mile/3year warranty. The Honda dealer repair department stated that the manufacturer does not consider this a defect. To demonstrate to me that this is not a defect I was shown another car with the same issue and was offered the opportunity to view more vehicles with the same issue. Apparently this is evidence to the dealer and manufacturer that there is no problem with the axle boot. I would think that the fact that several vehicles in one shop showed the same covering of grease on the right boot suggest that there is a manufacturing problem. It is also interesting to note that the boot on the left axle is different from the boot on the right and shows no evidence of grease. I am able to drive the car and am assured by the dealer that there is no safety concern. The problem was identified by an independent provider during routine service As the car is under warranty I went to the dealer for repairs. There are no system messages regarding this issue.

My Honda passport had approx 10k miles and I was driving down a blind s curve less than 1 mile from my home on a clear dry day. The passport lost power, and when the gas pedal was depressed there was a loud grinding sound but no engagement - it seemed like the transmission was grinding and disengaged, or that power was not being transmitted by the engine. I coasted down to safe spot at bottom of hill, and stopped vehicle, put it in Park and turned it off. Then I started it again, transmission/power seemed to re-engage and I drove straight to dealership. They kept the car and told me they checked and found no codes. I asked about checking transmission fluid and they said they did but I don-€™t believe them. I called Honda corporate customer service and they told me they -€œcouldn-€™t do anything until it happened to me again-€ and that I -€œneeded to address problems and issues with my dealer.-€ (It was dealer who told me to call corporate.) Since this time, I have received notice of fuel pump recall and that has been repaired. I wonder if the loss of power I experienced was fuel pump, or if it was related to transmission issue (same as Odyssey) for the 9-speed transmission.

2019 Honda Passport touring w/ 10K miles O blind downhill S-curve approx one mile from my home.. my zf-9 speed transmission slipped out of gear while driving, resulting in loud grinding, lurching, and complete loss of power while driving. Incident occurred immediately after a full stop at the end of my lane before entering main roadway and downhill curves. I had to coast to the bottom with the grinding and gnashing gears and bucking, lurching vehicle dealership claims they could not replicate the problem, nor had they ever heard of this problem. They also stated that diagnostics did not identify any issues which is odd because I could give them a timeframe of exactly when incident and subsequent loss of power occurred. I also called Honda corporate who tried to tell me that this was "a normal breaking in" scenario and that I should contact them when it happens again because they would do nothing for first reported incident. Clearly, american Honda co does not care about consumer safety. I am now afraid to drive my vehicle

48 hours after I purchased my 2019 Honda Pilot the transmission blew. I was driving on the highway on my way to a vacation with my car packed for the week and I heard a bang as if I hit something and then it sounded as if something was dragging on the bottom but nothing was there. I was extremely scared because I was stuck alone on the side of the highway because the transmission blew on my brand new car with less that 100 miles. My vehicle had to be towed away and they had to place a brand new engine. I was offered no compensation and they refused to give me a new vehicle.

The radio displays an error message of 'network communication lost' before the screen blacks out. This happens over and over every time I drive the vehicle. In addition, the screen for the odometer blacks out and I cannot see the traveling speed of my vehicle. I cannot use the federally mandated backup camera as well as the parking sensors. I cannot see the parking sensors. The vehicle also shows 'brake' continually when driving as another car approaches from the opposite direction. There is no need to brake at these times. This occurs very frequently while driving. The last item is the transmission does not want to shift while traveling downhill about 50% of the time when I leave my house. The engine will just rev higher and higher over 4K revs. I cannot even drive the 25-mile speed limit when this occurs. I have confirmed that the transmission settings are in the standard drive mode during these events. I also informed them that the auto high beam feature does not work properly. When another vehicle is approaching from the opposite direction many times it does not turn off and I blind the oncoming driver. I have brought this to the dealership twice and it has not been fixed.

Vehicle with less than 1000 miles. Engine stalled during motion approx 70 mph. Forced to pull over and restart engine but was unable to put into drive but after a minute was successful in starting. Engine stalled two more times after and each time more errors were reported on the vehicle driver display. Errors involved emissions, transmission, engine, blind spot monitoring, and battery. Issue was rectified by Honda dealership but unknown whether or not permanent damage occurred. The dealership fix was to "drain atf fluid and brought to proper level". their diagnoses was that "atf is overfilled." Vehicle has multiple fit/finish/build quality issues leading me to believe that the manufacturer is at fault for this problem and that other issues may be present but unknown. One notable safety issue with the build quality is that all four emergency handle bars are loose.

Vehicle returned today for the third time. Same issues: Will not come out of park, 10 warnings. Let vehicle run about 15 minutes, turn off, go inside for about 15 minutes, restart vehicle, 7 warnings and now can get into drive. One added issue: At the dealership when closing the door there is several beeps indication the key is still inside the vehicle. The keyfob is not in the vehicle or anywhere near!! vehicle stationary in garage at home.
