The spare tire assembly was so rusted that you couldn't remove the spare donut. The front drivers side regular tire had a small nail in it resulting in some air loss. So town fair tire in tewksbury MA agreed to plug the tire because they could not remove the spare tire do to heavy rust in which they also said that this is a common problem to this model vehicle. Also I agreed with town fair tire that I would get it up to my dealership: Jd by rider up in manchester nh asap for extra services. Jd by rider sent my vehicle to town fair tire in manchester nh & T.F.T. also recommended a brand new factory spare tire assembly. I ended up having to buy 4 brand new replacement General Grabber tires P75-65R-16 tires. Also jd by rider had to buy another spare donut tire for putting it in the way back of my vehicle. The original spare tire is still frozen underneath the passenger rear of my vehicle. I had to drive to town fair tire thinking that the front tire just needed some air put in it but tft took it off the rim & discovered the nail in it right near another plug. That was why they were hesitant on putting in the new plug.

While driving to work yesterday morning, I was turning off a side road onto a main road. As soon as I turned on to the main road the van sounded like maybe it had a flat, it did not. Both ESC lights came on and stayed on. The steering and braking was erratic and there was no pick up. I could not get the wheels to turn the same direction as the steering wheel for a short period of time moving into on coming traffic. Luckily I was able to get short period of control, enough to barley turn into a parking lot. I am so fortunate this didn't happen on the highway at 55mph or could have been horrific. I did call Hyundai and there are several recalls for the van including the front control arms. I asked if they can tow to the nearest dealer considering I just avoided an accident and had no control. Hyundai will not tow to the dealer. They did offer to reimburse me if I tow it, but that does not help me currently. This is a very serious situation and needs to be rectified by Hyundai before a driver is not able to avoid an accident due to having no pick up or control of the steering.

I had for yokohama avid ascend blu earth tires installed at my local Hyundai dealership on 5/21/2016. Cost was nearly $1000 installed!! vehicle mileage at installation was 171,500 miles. This vehicle has become a secondary vehicle and rarely gets used. The vehicle currently has 175,700 miles (5/1/2018). Over the past two months, all four tires have had internal belt separation. All four tires had the same manufacturing date of 85D4015 stamped on them. I have had to replace all four tires due to this very dangerous and possibly deadly condition. Discount tire called yokohama to explain the situation. Yokohama declined to replace tires free of charge even though these tires were fairly new with 80% tread remaining. They agreed to cover 60% of the cost to replace the four tires. I paid roughly $300 to replace the four tires. Yokohama is manufacturing defecftive tires and getting away with it because the government has done nothing to alter their defective manufacturing process. Unfortunately, they are possibly killing people in the process.

While driving approx. 30 mph (moving straight; not turning) a noise was heard, the front of the vehicle seemed to drop, and both steering and brakes became erratic. The van, still acting up, made it to a parking lot, where a visual inspection of the front driver's side wheel well indicated what I believe to be a broken control arm (see photo). This is a known issue with this vehicle, and late in 2013 there was a recall (# 13V556000). Vehicle owners were advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for and inspection and either rustproofing or replacement of the control arms. On 1/20/14, the vehicle underwent this process and reported "inspected, waxed, and undercoated as per campaign" (see excerpt from invoice). No damage to the control arms was reported by the dealer's service shop. Had I been informed of a damaged part during the "inspection", I would have chosen to replace it, as this is apparently vital to keeping control of the vehicle. Over the past several weeks, I have done a lot of highway driving. Had this happened at 65 or 70 mph, rather than at the 30 mph in the city, the outcome could have been disastrous. A police officer showed up to help and took down my name - I do not know if a formal report will be filed..
