At times, especially entering the freeway from an exit ramp, the transmission remains in the lower gear for an extended period of time before shifting to a higher gear and speed; accelerating does work or have any affect. Nor does it force the transmission to shift gears. This is dangerous when entering the freeway from an exit ramp in heavy traffic when one needs to get on to the freeway.
