This was very annoying but as soon as I typed the issue into google the solution came right up. The part was expensive but easy to fix myself.

Santa Fe

  • Automatic transmission

The car won't start once the gas cap is removed. Thinking an issue with the fuel pump/filter or the gas cap seal. Looking for people with the same problem and what they had to do to fix it.

problem #1

Feb 282014

Santa Fe

  • Automatic transmission
  • 132,000 miles

After purchasing this vehicle DEC 2012, never had any problems. Feb. 28,2014 stopped to fuel vehicle and it wouldn't start, just stalled out each time the key was engaged to start. Once it start don't have any problems until I stopped and refueled. I have changed gas stations and always the same problem. Carried it to the shop and they can't find the problem, very embarrassing, it make it seems as though I ran out of gas at the pump. Even thought if I refuel with a half tank maybe it would make a different but it doesn't.

Please help with this annoying problem. Other than fueling problem I seem to have a decent vehicle. Only have 132,000 miles.

Update from Mar 16, 2015: Had purge valve replaced ,no longer has problem
