Santa Fe ULT 3.3L V6

I was driving my 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe V6 3.3L engine down the interstate with my kids when the engine seized up without any warning. We almost got hit by two semi's as we slowed down to a crawl on the shoulder for the next exit. I had it towed to a dealer and they said they "know about the problem", but it's not covered on the recall. How in the heck do they know about the problem, and how is it not covered!?! Hyundai dealership seemed to be scripted in their comments to me. I reached out to Hyundai customer care, waiting to hear back from a representative.

Santa Fe Limited 3.3L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles

We noticed the vehicle began burning excessive oil in early 2022. It was going through about 1.5 quarts every 1,000 miles. Hyundai dealership said this was normal and we would just have to add oil between changes. Shortly after we had a complete engine failure which led to a $19000 quote from Hyundai for a full engine replacement. Can't say for sure they are connected but it seems like it. I've seen many other complaints with the EXACT same thing and with other Hyundai/Kia motors.
