Sonata GLS 175-Hp, 2.4L-Liter I-4

The transmission started failing in September 2020, when the car was under 100,000. The car would sometimes jerk when I was almost stopping. There was no jerking when accelerating or when slowing down from other speeds. In other words, there was jerking sometimes (not all the time) when decelerating from 2nd to 1st gear. At the time, I was not sure what the problem was.

Because of my extremely demanding work, I did not bring the car to the dealership until November 2020. There were other problems along with the transmission problem, such as a broken door handle. The service staff ignored my complaint about the jerking when decelerating. I figured it must not have been important because they did nothing about it.

Now it is April 2021 and the dealership service center informed me that the transmission is starting to fail and that I will need a new transmission. The odometer is now a bit over 103,000. I had an extended warranty that covered 10 years (which applied because I bought the car in 2012) or 100,000 miles, which is first. Because my car is now over 100,000, the dealership is stating that the warranty won't apply. I am appealing the decision to Hyundai corporate, but have also been told it is unlikely the appeal will be successful.

The transmission going out at about 100,000 is ridiculous. Hyundai's actions in regard to this so far have been incredibly bad. If Hyundai refuses to fix the transmission, I will never buy a Hyundai again.
