Water leaking inside cabin on passenger side. Mold accumulating behind dashboard. Also loud noise of spraying water, which is distracting during driving especially during right or left turning. Passenger experienced a near slip and fall after exiting the vehicle on a slick surface, not realizing her shoes were wet from the drenched carpet on that side of the cabin.there is also a noticeable stench in the cabin that has made me nauseously sick. I was distracted by the sound of spraying water to the point of trying to locate it while driving. This happens when driving in the city or highways. This happens only while driving.

My steering wheel is constantly making a clicking sound and vibrating violently. I took the vehicle to Hyundai today and even though this is a warranty issue, they still wanted me to pay them to identify the cause of the issue.

The steering wheel column on my vehicle constantly clicks. This is a extended warranty campaign with Hyundai however they refuse to fix it. I took the vehicle to a dealership in richmond, va in January 2017 and they told me what the problem was and gave me a quote to fix it of $800. This was before the vehicle hit 100,000 miles and the warranty campaign was released. When I took it back in October because I couldn't stand it anymore, Hyundai refused to fix it as it was at 106,000 miles. They never documented the issue in January. Now the vehicle has failed its inspection, even though Hyundai told me it was not a safety issue.

The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. While driving various speeds, the steering wheel made an abnormal clicking noise and vibrated heavily. The vehicle was taken to West broad Hyundai (8903 w broad St, richmond, va 23294) where it was diagnosed that the steering wheel coupling was fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received an extended warranty notice for a technical service bulletin per NHTSA campaign number: 10110922 (steering, equipment adaptive); however, the vehicle was unqualified due to the mileage. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was unable to be repaired per the technical service bulletin. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000.

Have a clucking noise emanating from behind the counsel inline with steering column. I checked online and found a technical service bulletin for Hyundai and Kia vehicles. I also located some videos on youtube on the replacement of the part that is the cause of most noises. The part in question is a flexible rubber coupling in the mdps (motor driven power steering) assembly. The technical service bulletin for Hyundai is tsb 14-St-002-1. I found a pdf with the information with pictures online and the date that is stated within it is May 2014. It does appear that they have a updated replacement coupling to replace the ones that are failing. When the coupling fails, it results in metal on metal contact. With that said, metal on metal contact over time may result in damage to the mdsp and have a higher dollar amount in repairs. I am hesitant in driving my 2012 Sonata very much as I am worried about safety. The safety of others along as myself.

Steering catches or sticks in center position while in motions. Requires extra effort to move past the sticking point which results in a jerk in the steering which is quite dangerous at highway speeds. Rocking the steering wheel back and forth produces a very cloud click sound as well.

Whenever I turn the steering wheel a loud cluck sound happens. It feels like the steering wheel is loose. After doing some research found out that the flexible coupler is the problem. A cheap plastic piece that breaks because it is sandwiched between 2 metal gears, not a good solution.

Noticed knocking sound coming from behind the steering wheel when turning the wheel left/right from center position. The power steering seems to be working fine and able to turn the vehicle while driving. Several forums and online posted videos describe the flexible rubber coupling in the mdps (motor driven power steering) assembly getting worn out which causes the gear tooth to have a metal-on-metal contact. Check this video on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?V=D7K17liy6B0) and other related video describing the issue and fix.
