Bought this car used with 93k miles on in. From the beginning it has had significant electrical problems: radio fading out when hitting a bump in the road, when rolling up the windows, back up sensors gave out, dash gauges going haywire for no reason, CHECK TPM light on (new tires), water leaks inside and eventually shorting out the amp, etc., but at least it was running. Then one day, without hardly any warning, it overheated on the interstate, the timing chain slipped, ruined the motor and the battery (WTF???).
The battery alone cost over $200 just to be able to diagnose what the problem was. $4k later, the motor is working again (new engine, new timing chain, water pump, etc.), but it's spitting out a code p0430 that just won't go away no matter what. I try: was told it needs a new catalytic converter but I'm not sure that's the problem because the CE light goes off for days at a time by itself, and I don't want to invest in that costly fix without being sure.
Now the radiator is leaking causing overheating and I'm experiencing serious deja vu. Engine plus labor cost 3500, radio cost $500 to fix (new amp plus labor), TPM still not working right, bell dings, warning CHECK TPM comes off and on when changing speeds, but that "fix" cost me $140 parts & labor. Still working on the radiator fix, so far I'm in for $150, and at this point, unless someone can tell me something I can do to fix it myself, I feel like the back up sensor is a MINOR inconvenience that I'm just going to have to live with. SMH
What a money pit. Love the car (okay, love/hate), but these things very expensive to fix.
