when decelerating transmission makes grinding sounds
I have a CVT transmission in my Jeep Compass. Last year it started making a grinding / clicking sound when decelerating. It sounds like it's not going into gear. The sound one would hear with a manual transmission and you miss the next gear when shifting. I've heard that Nissan extended the warranty on their CVT equipped vehicles to 100,000 miles, but Chrysler has not.
One dealer told me it was normal, another said the transmission needs to be replaced, and yet another said there was a software update for the transmission control module (or whatever it's called) that would fix it. Chrysler needs to cover this!
