While preparing to enter my car today (6/5/2022) I heard a fairly loud popping/exploding sound. I quickly backed away from the car then approached it again and realized the passenger headrest, though attached, had basically split in 2. Upon further inspection I couldn-€™t see why this had randomly happened as I didn-€™t have a passenger with me and hadn-€™t touched it. I tried to force it back together but couldn-€™t figure out how to get it to move so I left it as is. Later this evening I started searching online for how to fit it back together and it appears this happens frequently especially with jeeps and is a failure of a safety feature called active headrest. I went back out to look at it and saw exactly what I had seen other drivers mention, there-€™s 2 teeny tiny pieces of black plastic that apparently keep it from deploying and the right one had cracked. Just lucky that no one was sitting there at the time or that it wasn-€™t the driver headrest while driving - very unsafe, I can-€™t even believe a -€œsafety feature-€ is approved when it-€™s only withheld by a piece of plastic so small you wouldn-€™t think twice about discarding it if you found it while opening a toy.

Faulty tipm shortly out some electrical relays. Stationary cooling fans don't shut off even when ignition key is off. Ac blower fans intimidate on and off. At Chrysler dealership for 10 days. All relays changed 'all sensors change. Tipm diagnosis says short in tipm. $1500 part after repair of relays and sensors. Total $2500+. bill. Awaiting new tipm to come in. Chrysler can't guarantee that that will fix the problems.

Electronic throttle control and electronic stability control indicator lights turn on and vehicle goes into "limp" mode creating the inability to accelerate over 10mph. When pulling out in front of oncoming traffic, the Jeep stalls and then goes into limp mode. Serious safety concern with not being able to accelerate in these scenarios. Has happened ever since the Jeep had 50,000 miles and has continued to the point the vehicle is no longer drivable as of June 2020 (issues began in Jan 2019). Extreme hesitation has occurred when trying to accelerate on an on-ramp also creating a safety hazard as to not get up to the appropriate speed to safely merge with traffic. Cvt transmission began overheating at 55,000 miles, also causing the Jeep to go into limp mode.

Around 80,000 miles my car stopped accelerating and appeared to stay in 1st gear (I drive an automatic). Luckily, I was driving on a residential street. Then the check engine light, the traction light, and a red lightning bolt light turn on. When I took the car to the dealership they diagnosed the car needs a new throttle body, wiring, and a new battery. The battery ended up failing shortly after I brought it into the shop.

Takata recall it is dealing with the trasmission temperature. Driving with or without the air conditioning on and cruise control for a period of time of a speed of 70. The light comes on the car begins to make a whining noise and the car begins to lose speed and power. The temperature light comes on and it is not overheating, I have to pull over cut vehicle off. For 5 or more minutes then continue on until it starts over again. This has happened multiple times. No one can figure out what is wrong with the car. I took to dealership and they said they can't tell me what is wrong with out the light being on at the moment I bring it there, the light comes on and the vehicle shuts down no possible way to even drive it when this happens, I have had numerous people trouble shoot and seems like they are just taking my money and not solving this issue, it seems to be a factory issue and needs to be fixed, being on the highway at a fast rate of speed and loosing power is unsafe. I will be looking for another vehicle. 1 affected product

While driving, banging noise from rear and front suspension was heard. Squealing noise (metal on metal) also heard from brakes. Mechanic inspected undercarriage and saw undercarriage was thoroughly rusted which damaged front and rear suspension and brakes. Was informed of danger in driving and advised to get to dealer immediately. Brakes damaged inside to the outside due to rust. All brake system parts were replaced. Mechanic also had to grind away rust to prevent further damage. Mechanic claimed this was the worst amount of rust he had seen in 20 year career. Repairs totaled $784.44. May also have affected radiator as well. Heat now not working and prestone turns red from rust.

The contact owned a 2013 Jeep Compass. While driving approximately 45 mph, the driver saw flames in the rearview mirror. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was pulled over and the driver saw flames underneath the hood. The driver attempted to open the hood, but was unable to do so. The fire department was called, but before they arrived, there was a loud explosion and the vehicle became momentarily engulfed in flames. The vehicle was totaled and the remnants were towed to a tow yard. A fire report was filed. There were no injuries reported. The dealer was contacted (California motors, santa ana, ca, 714-515-6100) and stated that there was no recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that an investigator would be sent out, but no one showed up. The contact did not receive notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V668000 (seat belts, air bags). The failure mileage was approximately 38,000. Consumer stated Jeep/Chrysler instead of taking responsiblity for a malfunction on the 2013 Jeep Compass that engulfed in flame and could have trapped my son inside after the doors wouldn't open as also effected my credit amongst the other problems caused by the event. Recurring problem- transmission fluid temperature light has gone on and vehicle slows or stops abrubtly during 1 hour or longer trip on highway. Had the car in Jeep dealer 3 times. Contacted Jeep corporate directly, they didnt return last calls. No progress. Port jeff Jeep dealer (where we purchased 6 months ago) is servicing vehicle. Concerned about the inability to accelerate as problem occurs on highway- sudden drop in speed poses a danger. Dont want to wait till rear endeded. 4 events on 11/19/2016, 11/30/2016 and 12/12/2016.
