I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have no heat and can't defrost the windows. I took it to a Chrysler dealer and they told me the bender boards need to be replaced at a cost of about $1,200/. I did some research and there are a lot of people that are complaining about this issue with Jeep. This is obviously a design flaw and should be recalled and fixed by Chrysler at no charge to the customer.

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I purchased in 2003 with only 27K on it and a factory warranty I also purchased a extended bumper to bumper warranty from the Jeep dealer when I bought the vehicle at about 75K the vehicle lost all heat on the passenger side it only blows cold air I took the vehicle back to the dealer ship to have it looked at they told me it could of been one of two things either the heater control unit or the blend doors but almost always it is the blend doors, they then told me that it was not covered due to the warranty expired a few months before and that it would cost me over $1000 dollars to fix I have been driving the vehicle all this time with no heat because I can not afford to fix it and it is a major safety hazard as all winter long my car will not defrost, I can only see out a little space in the window when the temp drops to freezing, if I knew back then that this issue is affecting almost every Jeep owner out there not a select few I would of acted sooner but as I cant stand it anymore I did some research and found many sites that have hundreds even thousands of people affected by the faulty parts installed by the Chrysler Corp this type of issue is not supposed to happen when you spend 30+K on a vehicle.

The blower motor on my Jeep Grand Cherokee limited failed due to a problem with doors in the heating/cooling system. The repair will cost $ 900 - $1,200 to repair. There was heat. There was cooling. There was no blowing to send that air into the vehicle compartment. Defrosting of windows was slow.the condensation evaporated only after the air moved itself. I can only switch to "defrost", a minimal assist in the process. My husbandwas unwilling to drive or be a passenger in this vehicle due to the danger caused by the defrosting problem (we have a home in mn and I will be moving there soon) or during the extremes of temperature during winter and summer. There was a website with a long list of people with the same claim.

Grand Cherokee 8-cyl

I own a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited with 116,000 miles. The events leading up to the failure of the ventilation system were (1) rapid fogging of front windshield, (2) no defrost on passenger side of windshield, (3) fogging of front passenger windows and windshield, (4) failure of passenger heat while still maintaining driver heat function, and (5) only cold air release on passenger side of Jeep. Consequently the windsheild and front windows do not defog, and no heat is provided from the passenger side floor and dashboard ventilation system. To correct this problem, a blend door assembly is required at a cost of approximately $1,350 inclusive of 8 hours of labor. According to the certified service department at the local Jeep dealer and online forums, this has become a very common problem for 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, this is the third occurance that my heating/cooling system has failed since I purchased my Jeep in August of 1999. The latest problem is the blend doors and recirculation doors. The dealer cost to fix was about $900. After seven years I would think that Chrysler could make a heating/cooling system that would not break every 2.5years.

1) no sign of failure, just happened out of no where 2)no heat from passenger side of vehicle at all, no floor heat, no front vent heat, and most importantly, no windshield defrost heat, causing a lot of fog and poor visibility during these cold months... 3)have not done anything to fix issue, cost of replacement parts and labor is $2000, down time of vehicle is 2 days to fix...a lot of work for a novice like myself.

The blend doors have failed 2X. This is extremely dangerous as I no longer have defrost on the front windshield. This costs over $1000 to fix. The blend doors have flaps to control the hot and cold air for the HVAC. Mine was stuck on cold, and there is no way to defrost my car. I can not afford another $1000.

Grand Cherokee 8-cyl

I am writing to express my frustration and anger regarding my 2000 Grand Cherokee. Since this past October, I have experienced a myriad of problems which include the following: 1. a broken ventilation deflector which prevents any air from coming through the ventilation. I spent nearly $100 to find out that it is a $37 part with $500 in labor just to install it. I have children in the car, and the summer heat of 100+ degrees is in my mind, dangerous. 2. all of the passenger doors cannot be opened either manually or remotely from the outside or inside. I received an estimate to replace the lock actuators at a staggering cost of $500 per lock! the doors canT be opened from the outside or from the inside without systematically unlocking the doors with the remote, then reaching in from the drivers seat to manually unlock them from the inside. It doesnT take a genius to see that this is a huge safety issue if I happen to get in an accident and the passengers (children) are unable to get out of the vehicle. The Jeep mechanic said this is a common occurrence with Jeep for quite a while. 3. the driver side mirror broke when my wife was adjusting the angle of the mirror. There is now no tension to hold the mirror in place. All of these problems began 8 months ago and I am more than a little angry about it, especially when none of these items are covered past the 3 year warranty. All tolled, I am looking at spending somewhere in the range of $3000 to fix these problems. Right now I am extremely unsatisfied customer, and expect some healthy measure of cooperation from Jeep.
