I bought my Jeep Grand Cherokee to keep for life. I have babied it and it looks like new. I am 75 years old and living on a fixed income. Can you imagine my dismay when the door panel started crumbling apart around the door handle? When I took it to the Jeep dealer and tried to trade it in on a new Jeep, they would not give me a decent trade in on it because it would cost so much to repair. And the body shop wanted close to $800 to replace the door panel, if they could get one.

Then I found out from dealer that this is a common problem on Jeep Cherokees in this model. I think Jeep should stand behind their product and see that I can get my Jeep repaired and be able to open door to my beloved jeep and get out of it. SO PLEASE - DO THE RIGHT THING AND STAND BEHIND YOUR PRODUCT!

ALL 4 interior door handles are broken! I've taken very good care of my car. It's scary thinking that I could get trapped in my car.

I HAVE WORKED PROFESSIONALLY AS A SAFETY ENGINEER RISK MANAGER FOR ABOUT 40 YEARS AND THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. A PASSENGER COULD BE TRAPPED IN THE CAR DURING ADVERSE CONDITIONS SUCH AS DURING AN ACCIDENT OR FIRE RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.

2 of the four interior door handles are broken under with normal use/wear and tear. Dealers want $450/door to replace and install new door panel. I am trying a new replacement product from a company called Latchwell. I am supplying the parts and my mechanic will install. Hopefully will save me $2-300 per door.
