Very cold weather in early December. Diesel fuel gelled and vehicle would not start. After weather warmed, was able to start vehicle. Periodic starting issues for next two months. Every 20-30 starts, electrical system would apparently go dead and vehicle would not start unless is was jumped. Took vehicle to dealership. Dealership diagnosed bad battery. Also noted that ignition switch was "loose". Owner asked how much of the starting problem was the battery and how much was the ignition switch. Owner was advised that the issues were probably 50% battery/50% ignition switch. Owner purchased new battery and owner installed battery. No starting issues have been experienced since new battery was installed.

However, within past 6 weeks, the ignition switch would periodically not allow the key fob to be moved to the OFF position and allow the key fob to be removed on the initial vehicle shut down sequence. At first, driver would need to turn the key to on/start 1-3 times, then shut vehicle down to get the mechanism to release the key fob. Recently--within the past 2-3 weeks, this has occurred nearly every time the vehicle is shut down. Recently discovered that the key fob would not be released until/unless one heard a "click" in the ignition switch.

Preparing to purchase and install new ignition mechanism to (hopefully) resolve the problem.
