Grand Cherokee Overland 5.7L Hemi

vibration/shaking when accelerating uphill mostly; can feel same when cruising at 45+ sometimes; appears to be getting worse; no mechanical inspection so far, confident the problem is internal to transmission or torque converter; seeking advise/solution from others with similar problem; would like to know why the failure to begin with and is Jeep offering any assistance? Manual downshift helps calm the shaking but should not be necessary on a $50K machine with 44k miles.

Grand Cherokee Laredo 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission

This darn Jeep........when I would accelerate and reach about 45mph there would be a mild vibration from underneath the vehicle toward the rear. I thought nothing of it until it became more frequent and at random. It is extremely noticeable when climbing hills, it will shudder, vibrate and seem that it has difficulty changing gears.

The first time I took it to get checked out, they found nothing. The second time I was told that the torque converter was coming coming apart and it and the transmission needs to be replaced at a cost of $3000.

Only yesterday did the engine light illuminate.
