My 2003 Jeep Liberty has a lot of HWY miles - but I hardly ever use the rear windows. About 6 months ago, my right rear window would not roll up or down. I attempted the fix myself. I found that he window regulator had a pathetic cheap design (I believe designed to fail). You can't simply buy the replacement piece, so they want you to buy the whole window regulator that is guaranteed to fail again. Then yesterday, the left rear decided to fall down. I found a host of complaints on the internet. I know I am not alone. I will NEVER purchase another chrysler product for the rest of my life...EVER. For those needing a fix...I highly recommend this http://www.steigerperformance.com/products/sp13001.html
I fixed the problem myself by drilling 6 holes in the plastic piece that failed and threading the cable with braided fishing line. Your call, but the braided fishing line cost me no money since I fish...and I know with the way that I sewed this...it will NEVER fail. I do recommend the metal replacement part in the link provided...I did not find that reference until after I did my homemade repair.
