I have been having problems with the brakes on a less than one year old Jeep Renegade. It doesn't matter the weather or conditions. They squeal whenever the brakes are applied. Not just for a second, but for the entire time you are braking until the car stops. It is LOUD. It started a few months ago out of nowhere. I've never had a car long enough to replace any part of it including the tires. I trade whenever the warranty is up.

I took it to the dealership just a few weeks ago for an oil change. I asked them to check them and see what could be going on. The service advisor first asked if I'd like to replace them if there was any problem (at my cost)! Umm... NO! After checking it she came back and told me that there was some brake dust and that was the cause. I told her that that seemed like an unlikely cause of something that sounded so serious. She them proceeded to tell me that someone else owns one at their dealership. She talked to that person and they responded that theirs was doing it too, but that she was told that it would stop after it reached about 20k miles. WHAT?!

I've made an appointment at another dealership for a second opinion. I feel that if what others are saying is true, that they need to replace all of my brakes and extend my warranty on this vehicle regarding this one issue.

I'm now worried that they could cause a much more serious issue down the line.

Update from Aug 1, 2018 The dealership replaced all of the rotors and brake pads last week, and I've had no problem since. Cross your fingers. I will say though, that everyone I talked to had differing information. Jeep says on brakes - 12000 miles or 12 months. Dealership initially said it was not even a covered item, BUT has replaced mine AND stated that the actual warranty for brakes is 2 years. Another dealership said one year. I have no idea which one is correct. I'm just glad I notified Jeep and the dealership itself. Not in that particular order. I also had an appointment set up at a different dealership to get a second opinion. No need now.
