Our jeep wanted attention because we weren't driving it enough. It developed a loud noise that I can only describe as some sort of distorted, dying bird. Using a stethoscope the distributor was pinpointed as the culprit. Just took it out, dissassembled and found some goop on the inside where the shaft is spinning around. Cleaned everything, added a little oil here and there, threw it back in the same way, and we are still running it 20,000 miles later. Perfectly smooth operation. Jeep has been absolutely reliable over the entire ownership of about 4 years and 25,000 miles. This was the worst problem its had.
