Went into a large puddle after massive rain storm too fast, Factory air intake filter unable to stop water flow and engine hydro locked, Engine replacement required. Small print on Jeep is do not exceed 10MPH going through water over 6 in deep so not their problem. Note that water crossings are no longer in Jeep commercials.

Luckily Insurance paid 70% on comprehensive. 2K is still quite a chunk of change. CAI added after new engine installed for better protection against water. Spend $200 to $300 on a CAI to protect from water damage.

Wrangler 4Dr Unlimmited 3.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 94,000 miles

Replacement for previously hydro locked engine. 48K on Re-manufactured engine. Driving along on highway @65MPH and BOOM rod blows out the side of the engine. Oil changes made on time.... no reason for it. There is definitely something goofy with the 2007-2008 engine set up.

Wrangler 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 51,000 miles

2007 Jeep Wrangler engine failure after 51,000 miles. Perfectly maintained. Added a quart of oil every 1,000 miles. I was lucky that I noticed right off that this car (bought new) burned a quart that fast. Dealer told me this is "normal". Never had a warning light to indicate that something was wrong. Yet the engine failed. Dealer told me I should have checked the oil every fuel change as instructed in my manual! Chrysler/Jeep refused to assist with any repairs as it was out of warranty. Jeep customer service would not even provide me an address or fax number so that I could provide my maintenance records. All of this after almost wrecking my vehicle because of the "non-existent" death wobble that hit when I was driving 65 mph on the interstate.

I love the Wrangler...but it is a piece of crap and Chrysler/Jeep has returned to the days of poor quality and even worse customer service.

Wrangler X 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 42,000 miles

I bought the 2007 Jeep Wrangler X in 2009 with 19K miles on it. By 30K i already had to have the EGR valve replaced as well as the instrument cluster. I also had steering the stablizer replaced in a failed attempt to fix the infamous "Death Wobble". At 42K my wife said that the Jeep was making a ticking noise. As soon as she said this I knew it was a spun bearing. I checked the oil levels and it looked fine. Checked online and found a several forums and a video of another 2007 jeep making the same noise. Sure enough it is a spun bearing. I have changed the oil religiously every 3K miles. I called Chrysler and of course they would do nothing for me since I was the second owner and I was 6K over the factory warranty. I always wanted a Wrangler....now I wish I never had one. Jeep is a warning label.....it stands for Just Empty Every Pocket. Junky Engineering Exagerously Priced. Chysler is a joke of a company and their is no reason they should have been bailed out with all the complaints on there product and crap customer services. The fact that the Death Wobble has not been a recall shows you how much of a Junk corporation Chrysler actually is. Never ever by a Jeep product of any type....it will cost you in the long run.

Wrangler Unlinited 3.8L, V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 17,000 miles

2007 Jeep Wrangler 4D/2WD

We have owned four Chrysler/Dodge vehicles over the years and this Jeep is a Nightmare! In the Dealership 9 times in the past 5 years. Safety issues, Front end issues, Electrical issues, now in the shop to replace the engine! It has 20,000 miles on it! This is my wife's car and she does not drive very much! We are tired of it being in the shop and my wife is afraid to drive it due to the ABS and electrical problems it has! What a piece of junk! We are arguing with the dealer now to take this piece of junk back and give us a working car.
