Wrangler Sport 3.2L V6

5000 miles from last oil change, while driving engine started knocking , after a mile or 2 engine quit. no oil on stick. Had it tolled home put 4 quarts of oil in it. No low oil light. I hope just a bearing. better than a complete rebuild.

Wrangler 3.8L

  • Manual transmission
  • 60,000 miles

Excessive oil consumption and no oil warning light. Twice now I checked my oil between changes at 6K miles and both times it had hardly any oil on the dipstick. I drive on the highway daily under 75 MPH for 25 miles. No jackrabbit starts, or heavy 4 wheeling and zero towing. I should not burn off 4 quarts of oil between every change. Jeep has claimed since at least 1988 that 1 quart of oil for each 1K in miles is acceptable. This is sheer and utter nonsense. That is the same warning on my 1988 Grand Wagoneer. I ran up to 50 weight oil in that V8 beast. No different. I think 20 weight oil is worthless. It just cooks off on any long run. I should not be putting in two quarts over a 500 mile drive.

Wrangler Sahara V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 18,000 miles

I started noticing that inbe tween my 3,000 mile oil changes that I needed to add a quart and a half. I dont know where the oil is going. Its not leaking and its not being burned ( no smoke). It seems that chrysler says this is normal usage. The next step I guess it to have a oil consumption test.
