The 'air bag' light stays on all the time and a Dodge technician confirmed it was due to a faulty "clockspring" I had read about as being a defect in online forums. The repair will cost me $500 and the vehicle is not even paid off; additionally, the dealer/tech told me the air bag may not deploy properly without the repair. This is a safety issue that has been overlooked during the engineering phase and should be corrected by the manufacturer.

While driving my air bag light came on. When I turn right it goes out. As I straighten out it comes back on. Research says it's a clock spring sensor or module based on how it goes on and off when the wheel is turned. Contacted my local dealership and was told that this is not a warranty issue and that it would cost around $400 for the part and labor. This is a device that has been recalled on many other jk Jeep, yet there is no recall on the 2010. Additionally I have a certified pre-owned warranty and they said it isn't covered under that warranty either. This is crazy.

I have a 2010 Jeep Wrangler with 16,000 miles that the airbag light has come on. Have taken to certified dealer who diagnosed as faulty module and not covered under warranty, including extended warranty. Reading online comments discovering Jeep did a recall for this issue up to model year 2008 and also recalled right hand drive models beyond 2008 for this issue. In my opinion the only reason they are not recalling this for post 2008 Jeep is there are too many on the road, over 300,000. I also have issue with the dealer (stetler york, pa) diagnosing at $95 then stating they do not have the part and need to order it, it has been 3 weeks now. Additionally, they, dealer could not tell us if the airbag would operate correctly in the event of an accident. One final note, the dealer stated this is common from Jeep rough ride. Excuse me, they proclaim/advertise rugged readiness. I have never off road-ed this vehicle. I am completely frustrated with this condition. I think Jeep should stand behind their products. I have had several big issues with my Jeep in the last month and a half. First my brake caliper and piston were frozen due to the fluids not flowing properly according to my mechanic. 2 weeks later my airbag light came on and stayed on brought it into the dealership and they needed to replace my clock spring and the third issue was my engine light that came on and then my car would not start. I needed to replace my alternator which was faulty and then drained my battery which I also had to replace. These three issues have cost me over $1000 dollars in a short period of time. I was wondering if any of them are a issue with my make and model and year of my vehicle. This is becoming I safety issue in my eyes. Especially my brakes and airbag issue.

Air bag warning light is flashing on and off. It will sometimes come on when engine is started or after driving a few seconds. It goes on and off ten or twelve seconds at a time. There is a recall on the Wrangler with right hand drive for a faulty clock spring. The same part is most likely in the left hand drive vehicles. There are probably many more left hand drive vehicles in the U.S.

My wife and children where driving and the air bag light went off and a chime was audible. Now my wife is scared to drive the vehicle because of the fear of the air bag deploying with no warning or if she is in a crash it won't deploy at all. This is a known problem with all Jeep from 2007-2011, I cannot believe this severe safety issue will not be covered by Chrysler. How about the executives at Chrysler put there family members in a vehicle with faulty air bags. I bet the problem would get fixed real quick! this is a wide spread problem. This is issue needs to be addressed. From what I have been told by the dealer is that it is a faulty clock spring in steering column, resulting in air bag light on in the dash, thus making the air bag inoperable!!!! extreme safety concern!!!!!! Chrysler recalled 2007 right hand drive models, but from what the dealer told me the left hand drive models are the same faulty part..... somebody please do something before someone is killed!!!!!

On the 2010 Jeep Wrangler unlimited (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags.this has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2007 - 2010 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. This faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2010 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. Daimler Chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying.

On approximately 13 April 2014, my 2010 Jeep Wrangler unlimited air bag warning light was coming on and off. Turns out to be a bad clock spring in the steering wheel. This will cause the air bag to fail to deploy in an accident, how is this not again a recall issue. They did extend warranty on this on the 2007's but not other years. The dealership is telling me it is out of warranty. To me this is outrageous, this is a safety issue and could cause people to die in a vehicle accident. Just do a google search under Jeep jk Wrangler bad clock spring or air bag warning light and you can easily see this is a wide spread problem. This is issue needs to be addressed.

Driving on side road made left turn and heard audible chime like seat belt warning. Looked at dash and see airbag warning lit up. Take to dealer as well as seek information on internet. Find multiple issues for clock spring signal failure. There is only a tsb issued for the right hand drive Wrangler from 2007-2011. The part # is identical for right and left hand drive vehicles. How can the recall only affect the RHD" 5440 cars were subject to recall. How many lhd Wrangler are there" I now have to pay $500 +++ to have a repair done that must be done by a dealer. This needs equal treatment to Chrysler recall M31.

During the month of 2/2014, the air bag warning chime and light began to go off intermittently. Due to the safety concerns, we took our vehicle in and learned that it was a bad clock spring. We paid to have it fixed, but upon research learned that the same exact part had been recalled in RHD vehicles (for our vehicle year) only. Would like information as to why lhd vehicles are not part of the recall when so many people are obviously experiencing a safety issue also.

Airbag light is intermittently lit. Multiple sources and troubleshooting have led to the airbag clockspring assembly. Chrysler has a recall for this (13V176000), but it only applies to right hand drive vehicles. There are numerous left hand drive vehicles that have had this failure. In searching for this part online, I found that there is no part number difference between right or left hand drive. This is a safety issue per NHTSA standards.
