problem #3

Optima EX

  • Automatic transmission

Much worse since this was on the drivers side and obstructed my view severely since it hung down and would not stay up.

problem #2

Optima EX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 43,000 miles

This is the second time with this same problem. This time it was the passenger visor. In all the cars I have had over the years, I have never had to replace a visor and now it has happened twice on the same car, once around 36000 and now at 43000.

problem #1

Mar 282009

Optima LX 2.4L 4-cyl

  • Manual transmission
  • 32,000 miles

Both driver and passenger sun visors refused to stay folded up, either towards the windshield or against the ceiling. I removed the driver's sun visor to inspect it myself. Easy enough. Turns out the plastic barrel that the sun visor rotates on had cracked and split apart. Same story for the passenger side sun visor. It's obviously a defective design, considering both failed identically on a 3 year old car with 32k miles. Since my car was covered under warranty, Kia replaced them with, what I assume to be, re manufactured sun visors. DO NOT REMOVE AND DISPOSE OF THE FAULTY SUNVISOR(S). Kia will not replace them under warranty without giving them your old sun visors. This is what leads me to believe the "new" sun visors are remanufactured from the old broke ones. They visors are around $90 EACH! I think that is completely outrageous! Thank goodness for that Kia warranty.
