This is the second time that a glass has broken on my Kia. Last time it was the glass between the windshield and the moving sunroof. This time the sunroof broke. There is no need for this. It seems that there is an issue with the heat in my area and these cheap pieces of glass. Kia took care of the first repair but will not repair the sunroof. This is crazy.

sunroof blew out

My daughter was driving down the road yesterday, in town. Suddenly, she heard a loud "gun shot" sound and glass rained down on her from her sunroof. It just spontaneously exploded, leaving a huge hole in her roof. We took it to the Kia dealership and they "claim" it was a rock that hit her. She wasn't even driving near anyone at the time. If it were a rock, then their sunroof glass needs to be recalled to withstand more impact. It wasn't a rock and appears to me to be an ongoing problem of which Kia claims rocks must be falling from the sky.

It wasn't a dangerous event, but it certainly could have been very bad had she jerked the wheel when she heard the bang. Kia needs to fix this problem before someone is badly hurt or killed!! I'd like for them to also do the right thing and replace my daughter's sunroof!!

sunroof blew out

I was driving home from work and my 2012 Kia Optima sunroof exploded while driving down the highway . I took my car to the Kia dealership where I purchased it from and get all of my service work done on and I was told that the damage to my sunroof was not covered under my warranty or my extended warranty . They told me they have to hold my car for 48 hours so Kia can investigate it before they can let me know if they are going to pay to have the sunroof fixed. In the meantime I am without a vehicle is still have to make payments on this car that I cannot drive our half in my possession for 48 hours . Needless to say that I have been driving around with plastic on my roof April 5, 2016 because they would not give me an appointment to bring my car in until Monday, April 11 . Now today is April 12 and I'm being told I have to wait 48 hours before Kia can decide whether or not they're going to fix my car the total repairs is $500 $530 that includes parts and labor this is not covered under my regular insurance because I have a $500 deductible needless to say I feel like Kia is solely responsible for this and they should take actions to fix my sunroof. these cars should all be recalled because I am not the only one that this is happening to Kia won't own up to the fact that they have use faulty glass to make the sunroof. I'm very upset and I think everybody should know about Kia their faulty sunroofs. It is only by the grace of God that I was not hurt or did not have a serious accident when this happened. I am so thankful for the fact that I was the only person in the car and that I was able to keep control on the highway while this thing was exploding as I drove . pleasese contact me as soon as possible

Driving down the highway and I hear a loud noise, I thought I had blown a tire until I heard the canvas on my sunroof being blown by wind. I pulled over as fast as I could and had to sit there for a second since it scared the hell out of me. My 10 yr old woke up and my 3 yr slept through it. So here I sit on the side of the highway, climb out to see what had happened, and there's a huge hole in my sunroof. I was baffled.... I had to drive 30 miles home pushing up on the canvas so the glass didn't come in and to stop the canvas from flapping.

Then the dealership!! They call after 3 days of my car sitting in the shop telling me that KIA could not find sunroof glass in the nation... Yes, IN THE NATION!! So now my car has been there a week and they finally tell me it will be ready in a few days. (9 days total) They had a KIA Rep come to the shop and look at it and they decided something must had hit it. (scratch my head on that one, I was out in the middle of the desert with no traffic).

Final cost $718.00. I am hoping someone does some investigating on this sunroof issue. It could have turned out worse.
