Kia has big issues with engines (as per my experience). I leased new Kia Optima which was awarded an initial quality award.
At 6399 miles, the car was vibrating a lot in middle of road and engine light was ON. Kia service said spark plug was damaged. I demanded root cause but no explanation was given, but Kia has provided some goodwill. I also thought it was spark plug batch issue.
Again at 9650 miles I had same issue, and when I went to service they replaced the engine. If at ~9650 miles engine is bad, I questioned the quality of the engine, and customer care said that’s the reason they have warranty (strange). I asked them to replace car, with no positive response.
For long journeys I rent a car, I use this car of traveling inside city.
When asked what if this happens again, they said Kia will not consider “what if†cases. They confirmed that if accident happens due to this issue they will not take responsibility.
If interested I can share case numbers for your reference. If Kia's best quality car has engine problems, I'd like to see how bad other models are...
beware of bad engines and no responsibility ownership from Kia*
