I had the pinion plug recall done and immediately afterwards, I noticed that the car's steering wheel started to make a crackling/grinding noise when straightening back out after a right turn. To me and others who have heard it, it sounds exactly like the sound that is made when balling up a plastic bag.

I'm very busy, and the sound isn't deafening and doesn't (to me, yet) affect the steering of the car, so I took it back as soon as I could without rushing back up there. That was about a month later. Of course, the car didn't make the sound loud enough when I tried to show it to the mechanic, and the mechanic said he had to hear it in order to fix it.

I'm not crazy. This car's steering wheel is making a noticeable sound towards the end of completing a right turn.

on top of the groanong noise on right turns it now is making Last night it was really loud when I turned into my driveway and the clicking sound started.

I took it back the dealer this morning. There are 5 rights to get there. It made the noise three times. When I got there I had the mechanic get in the car with me and I could not make it happen no matter what I did. They had the car all day and they couldn't make it happen. They said they had it up on the lift and saw nothing wrong underneath. They will try again tomorrow.

I'm worried that this has something to do with the recall for the rack and pinion. The dealer said I was not on the recall list but I don't know if I believe him. I have no history with them. I'm thinking of having it checked out with my regular mechanic.

Update from Feb 25, 2016: It is happening more often. Mine started before I had the car fixed for the recall and Andrew's started after.

It is happening more often and now it seems to be happening when I turn the wheel bacl to straight.

Did Andrew get any more Info after he took it back? Did his mechanic contact mine in Streetsboro to work together?

Thanks
