This POS 2005 Lincoln LS is a royal pain in my ass!!!

I bought the '05 Lincoln LS with 36K kms on it because I thought the LS was a nice looking car. I didn't do my research on the common problems with this particular vehicle. And there are a bunch of common problems with these cars. It now has 142,000 kms on it and it's ready to be scrapped.

It's been garage kept at home and at work. The odd time it's been left outside. I hand wash it at leat once a week. I have regular service and we follow the service manual to the letter.

This car is so bad I can't let my wife drive it for fear she will be stranded. It's stranded me 3 times in 3 years!!! We can't take it on holidays because it will breakdown.

I've tried talking to Ford of Canada (3 times) and all I get is lip service and excuses. Lincoln LS vehicles have these common problems but Ford doesn't want to step up and take responsibility for poor design or porr quality parts. I know the coils are made in China and that's not right.

To date:

* 3 sets of coil packs have been replaced @ $900.00 a pop with a 4th set already in the works because when it rains or the car sits outside at night the car runs rough. To change the coil packs on the passenger side you have to pull the intake manifold which is a mechanic's dream due to the hours it takes to do this repair. The Ford dealerships are making a ton of money off these cars.

* two pair of catalytic converters have been replaced $ $1,800.00 a pop with another error code will make a third pair of CAT's the check engine light stays on all the time.

* the front struts are rattling bad, they need to be replaced at $800.00 a visit

* the OEM paint is peeling on the left front fender and under the decklid. I fixed the outer decklid paint peeling last year at my expense.

* the electric park brake is a joke. It hasn't worked since after the warranty ended.

If you are thinking of buying an LS , don't do it!!!! YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!!

We had plans to buy a new MKS in the spring of 2013 but that won't happen. I'm done with Ford vehicles and it pains me to say this but we will be looking at foreign vehicles very shortly.

Update from Dec 8, 2014: Good News!!!!!

March 2014 the wife wrote the Lincoln LS off. I'm glad my wife was unhurt but glad that POS is finally gone out of my life and pocket book. My insurance company gave me almost nothing for the car but I don't care. It's gone but never forgotten.
