Took MXK to dealer today. They could not replicate and told me they do not know what the problem is. SERIOUSLY? Losing the ability to accelerate while driving is not a good thing. Losing odometer, not good either. I have loved my MKX. I cannot believe the dealership could not tell me what is wrong.

MKX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 97,000 miles

I have always had problems with the car accelerating on its own ever since I have owned this vehicle. The transmission was replaced at approximately 80,000 miles with some Lincoln assist with cost. Yesterday I turned the car off and it started itself back up (which was really strange). I reinserted the key and turned it off again and this time it stayed off. I told my husband as it seemed odd.

This morning when I was approaching the freeway entrance ramp the car started to shake and sputter, then the check engine began blinking and then held steady. I immediately took the car to the dealership which was about 5 miles away and the car shook and sputtered most of the way. The dealership did not indicate that they were aware of any problems with the symptoms I described (sure) but said they would contact me with the findings and cost to resolve the issue. I can only hope that this is an easy fix at a reasonable price. I will keep you posted as to the results once I have my car back.

Update from Apr 27, 2016: Just got off the phone with the dealer and it is a bad ignition coil at a cost of $528. Ouch!

Truck would not start. Was STUCK in between onramp and rt lane in middle v of merge. Had to call cops so I didnt get hit and then tow. $200

Truck was at FORD for three weeks. Day after I picked it up, Engine light on with NEW issue. Took truck back "It looks like exhaust" Truck is GARBAGE and FORD does NOT stand behind their product. This is near but NOT even at 100,000 miles. PURE GARBAGE!!!! Will NEVER buy another FORD Product again!
