Lincoln MKZ capless gas tanks need to be addressed. I don’t understand how they recalled the SAME ENGINE on the Ford focus for the exact same issue I have been dealing with for over a year. After every fill-up my car won’t start unless I slam on the gas pedal. When the vacuum inside the gas tank creates enough pressure it will actually suck air in via the gas tank filler neck and it makes an awful sounding fart noise. I pull over every time and press my finger just a little bit and GASP the fuel tank vacuum pressure is released.
This year I noticed the “farting†(what I call normal now) and went to pull over to relieve the vacuum negative pressure, and the car just turned off and was rear ended by the car behind me. I have the extended service premium warranty but nowhere on the 1000+ covered parts does it say purge valve or canister. The dealership wants $2000 some odd dollars to diagnose and fix the issue. Pathetic.
Ford/Lincoln needs to recall the purge valve not only for the Ford Focus but every 2.0 engine with a capless fuel tank.
