Car Lurches Forward

CarComplaints.com Seal Of Avoid Like The Plague

CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2010 Mazda CX-7 appears to share the same engine defects as the three previous model years: VVT/timing chain failure & turbo failure. The timing chain failure is especially bad with many cars requiring an engine replacement ($9,000+).

In 2011, Mazda began a "Special Service Program" that extended the warranty to 7 years/70,000 miles covering excessive timing chain noise — an early sign of timing chain failure. However coverage under the program requires perfect documentation of all required maintenance with other stipulations. Buyer beware.

When at a stop light the engine revs wanting to go forward. Also, when reversing the engine revs and the car start accelerating. First time this happened I got really scared as I was backing up and the car lunged backwards almost hitting another car on a parking lot while parking in reverse.

I want to start by stating that I LOVE this car. I have never had an issue with it before now. My mileage is very high but the car took it in stride. Recently, I felt the car lurch forward and I thought it was me and maybe my foot slipped off the brake or something. Then it started happening more frequently. The issue is that the car LURCHES forward. If I am waiting at a light with my foot on the brake suddenly the car will lurch forward 1 or 2 feet and I have to slam on the brakes harder to stop the car. I was waiting for a pedestrian to walk across the entrance of a parking lot and the car lurched forward and almost killed the person. I went to park in the garage at work and we park nose to a cement wall in an underground garage. As I slowly pulled into the spot the car lurched forward almost hitting the wall. It also occurs when in reverse and pulling out of a parking spot. It is very disorienting when you are backing up and suddenly find yourself lurching. Mazda wants $138 to put the car on the diag computer so that is the first step for me. This can be a serious problem if the car lurches forward and can't be controlled. Hoping someone has a solution. I'll keep you posted with what happens.
