The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Armada. The contact's wife drove approximately two miles with the air conditioner activated. She exited the vehicle and noticed smoke underneath the hood. Three minutes later, flames appeared. The fire department was called and extinguished the fire. There were no injuries and a fire report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign id number 08V284000 (equipment:electrical:air conditioner) on August 21, 2008. The current and failure mileages were 72,000.
