The contact owns a 2001 Nissan Frontier. While driving 25 mph, the bearing failed in the rear axle. The tire and the axle separated from the vehicle while it was being driven 25 mph. The brake line was severed and there was no way to stop the vehicle. The vehicle eventually stopped on its own. The repair shop stated that the bearing failed. The contact filed complaint number 6270525 with Nissan. The current and failure mileages were 152,500. Update 10/01/08 rust was found on the wheel bearings and on the axle. The consumer stated the supercharged model was not included in the recall. Updated 10/02/08.
