2003 Nissan Murano sl AWD driver power seat problem. It only moves one side. Right side of the seat moves while left side remains still. Failure in moving fwd and back on left side track or rail.
Driver's seat broke while my wife {160 pounds} was driving. Seat leaned harshly to the left. The seat bracket must now be replaced - $1200 repair bill.
Several weeks ago I noticed that the driver's seat of my 2003 Nissan Murano was rocking back and forth, particularly around curves. This week, the left back side of the driver's seat broke. The left back side of the seat is no longer stationary. It moves up and down with any turn or bump. The seat is no longer level or properly supportive. I went to a Nissan forum and realized that this is the same problem that many other Nissan Murano owners have had. The descriptions of the problem are identical to what I have experienced. My car is out of warranty and I do not have the $900. That everyone is reporting is quoted to repair the problem.

I have a 2003 Nissan Murano. The drivers side seat frame has broken causing the seat to over left to right and frontward and backward freely, it is obvious that in a crash with a seat frame broken you chances of being seriously hurt by the seat coming loose are increased dramatically. Talked to the Nissan reps and they told us to take it to a Nissan mechanic to have the problem looked at and then they "may" be able to do something about it. Looking at other posts on the internet this is a common problem that Nissan will do nothing about for the car owner.
2003 Murano driver seat assembly has broken for the second time in different location. First time was under the front part of the seat steel support rod was dislodged from steel seat support about a month ago and I had to have it welded back together. Now the back steel support has broken. Nissan dealers say it is not covered in any warranty they have and it will cost approximately $1000 for them to order a new seat and install it. I've read multiple other complaints on this very same issue and this is very concerning as this is clearly a safety issue that Nissan chooses to ignore. Please advise.
My Nissan Murano 03 I took my car in for oil change and when I took it out my driver seat wouldn't move forward or back it wasn't that way when it went in and the dealer said it is a gear on the rail cost $700 also at the same time there is some rocking in my seat they said its a beginner of a crack rail, the cost to replace $1200 sounds dangerous and would think Nissan to recall these problems with the seats which can be dangerous if stopping suddenly they should recall and go after the supplier of the steel. Why make the citizens paid for there mistakes.
The drivers seat on my 2003 Nissan Murano has broken. It wobbles and leans forward and to the left. After searching for a solution on-line, I've discovered that this is a common problem with this model. There is no doubt that this is a safety hazard. Nissan will not fix it. It should be recalled.
On 14 Sep 09 took car (03 Nissan Murano) into local Nissan dealership to figure out why driver side seat when sitting on the seat would go to the floor. Initially I thought that a spring in the seat had worn out; but I was told by the dealership service representative that the rail system that the seat was fixed to had cracked and the cost would be $800 to repair. How does a steel rail system crack? I was also informed by the Nissan service representative that this was a potential safety hazard because the seat was not securely fastened and would rock from side to side.
Front drivers seat mounting bracket has been replaced four times because it rocks when driving and/or stopping. This is an obvious dangerous situation that can very easily cause serious injury and/or death to the driver and possible other people in the vehicle in the event the drivers loses complete control if this seat bracket breaks. I just had it replaced again, and it has the exact same problem. Nissan has obviously made a defective product and keeps installing the same defective type when a customer brings it back for repair. All dealers consider this a problem but, they also express there is nothing they can do if they keep getting defective replacement parts.. ie: Old stock.
On my 2003 Nissan Murano over sudden driver's seat went back and to the left with popping noise, now the seat feels like a rocking chain, I looked under and saw a steel bracket was broken right at the bent. Safety issue - no doubt!!!
I have a 2003 Nissan Murano with 70K miles. The front driver's seat has begun to rock side to side and even rolls forward and back (on it's own) slightly when I stop and start. This is quoted as about $1200 to fix. Seeing the list of all the same complaints about the same issue, and getting no help from Nissan, I feel a recall needs to ordered before someone gets killed.
While driving my 2003 Nissan Murano around a left turn, the driver's seat suddenly lifted up on the left hand side. It felt as if the seat had become unbolted from the car. I was obeying the speed limit at the time and there were no out of the ordinary circumstances. After further inspection, there is a metal bar across the back on the bottom of the seat that has broken. I consider the seat to now be unsafe and I shudder to think what would have happened if this had happened during an accident. I feel there should be a recall for this part due to safety concerns. There is already a an NHTSA investigation under way. Case id PE08065. Please add my complaint, david kerr
The driver seat has become loose and "rocks" forward and back. The driver seat "rocks" on the pivot of the front-left and rear-right. The rocking motion occurs during vehicle acceleration and braking. The seat failed about 1 month after extended warranty expired. I cannot afford the $1200 repair at this time. The unsecured seat is dangerous and the operator is subject to injury or death in the event of a crash. The seat is also a distraction while operating the vehicle, as an audible snap is heard along with a jolting force causing a slight reposition of my body.
2003 Nissan Murano. Drivers seat mount, left rear, broke in 2006 (out of warranty, normal weight drivers). After many calls to Nissan customer service, they covered the repair ($900). Now, April 2009, same seat mount broke. This is an issue that needs to have a recall. Many complaints found online of this issue not only in 2003 model, but also 2004 and 2005. This is a safety issue! a $900 repair is not something everyone can afford and driving with a broken seat mount is extremely dangerous!
