Pathfinder Hybrid Pathfinder Hybrid

  • CVT transmission
  • 31,069 miles

I own a Nissan Pathfinder 2014 car, covered for fifty thousand km, and for more than four months I have been following the Nissan Jordan maintenance branch, and my information is with Nissan Jordan.

Every time I go to the company, they program it, its condition gets worse, there is a problem in bitumen or the CVT, and everyone knows that it is a manufacturing error.

Please change the gear, as it is a dangerous subject and cannot be tolerated.

Pathfinder Hybrid SL

  • CVT transmission
  • 59,500 miles

Had this problem of vibration and shuddering of vehicle especially in stop/go traffic situations, from a long time ago when car was only a year old and complained to dealership. It was ignored and dismissed as just part of the cars' hybrid nature. I experienced this for several years and hesitant to drive it regularly to the city since I was always scared of stalling. This late Sept. 2020, the problem got worst especially when stepping on the brakes that I decided to bring it to the dealership for checkup and on my way there, the HEV warning light came off as well as the check engine. I couldn't believe that a car with such a short mileage have already had this problem.

The service diagnosed it as a CVT problem and needed to be replaced and would cost me $6900 for a new CVT transmission. I complained to Nissan motors consumer division since the dealership wouldn't cover for the costs since my extended warranty already expired more than 60 months, though mileage was only 59500 and they offered to pay 80% of the cost as a "goodwill payment" instead of the 100% I was asking since it had caused me so much stress for the many years I had this problem and the incompetence of the dealership's service people. Had the repair done at the same dealership at the insistence of Nissan motors and paid out-of-pocket for $1300. The car was in the shop for 10 days with several excuses for the delay in repair.

In the morning of the pickup day, I received a call that they just found out that the clutch system is worn out and also needed to be replaced and will cost me just an additional $1900 since the transmission hasn't been totally installed yet or around $4K if I come back and have it replaced in the future!! When I got the receipt and report, it says that the CVT COUPLER was red and BURNT. Isn't this something? Isn't the coupler a part of the CVT system and part of the replacement parts? What a scheme! I DECLINED THE OFFER and now I'm driving this vehicle with a fear that a few more miles and the problem will come out again.

Pathfinder Hybrid SL 4 cyl

  • CVT transmission
  • 93,000 miles

Unbelievable! My wifes SUV had that shuddering issue happen about two weeks ago. I was aware from readings about the CVT issue and had that dreaded gut sinking feeling. The car is in EXCELLENT condition. So I brought it to a local highly rated Transmission shop; they are known as being the best of the best. They ran the diagnosis and tried a few things before the final review... Tranny Replacement. They do about 2 a month of the Pathfinder.

I called Nissan while it was in there and corporate told me nothing they can do. The little pipsqueak rep on the phone (likely working from home) was totally useless and had no empathy. Nissan should have made these extended warranties from that lawsuit to 120,000 miles, not 84K. Bunch of assholes!

Now I'm stuck with a $4800 repair bill. Any recourse going after Nissan for this 2014 Pathfinder Hybrid?

Pathfinder Hybrid SV 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,000 miles

I first get the car on Aug 2014 and in Oct same year I first feel the shuddering in the car while riding on inclination. I didn't take that one seriously. I thought it's transient. Then I experienced it again and again. Stating to be too annoying and upsetting, even frightening, as you have the feeling that car will suddenly stop.

When reviewed the dealers they first said it's normal. After 2 visits they tried it and finally found the problem and took data for it ..

Please Nissan, I can't believe that this is happening with your cars. I've started to hear many say this Hybrid Pathfinder quickly drops you in problems and is not a fine manufactured car. Nissan to buyback these 2014 Pathfinder Hybrids if you really want to sell next 2015 and to save your repetition. .
