Sept 2017 I paid sandy sansing Nissan $853 to replace my defective cvt jatco transmission that failed. Now January 28, 2018 with less than 6000 miles on new transmission I was driving interstate 70 mph posted speed in heavy rain when the car began to go up in rpms revving before it quickly began to lose speed. Same thing as before. The roads were slick due to 24 hours of rainfall placing myself in a deadly situation. I'm not willing to risk my life or the life of my children and husband for a known defect Nissan has been aware of, and sued for numerous models already and yet still installing defective cvt transmissions with only a 12,000 mile or 12 month warranty on their replacement models which states they know they are trash and still deceive their customers. Nissan owners should be aware of the death traps they are driving and Nissan should be held liable for their defective products they continue to sell to consumers without disclosing the potential loss of life that could occur.

This happens every time I drive more than 50 miles at a time. If I am driving for a long time and slow down my car does not accelerate anymore. I ha E to shut my car off for at least 5 min. Before I can start driving again. Something is wrong with the power train. It struggles to keep up and almost sounds like the car is going to die. I have taken it to Nissan dealerships 3 times before my extended warrently was up and paid $100 every time they told me there was nothing wrong after the hook it up to the computer.

On Sunday(12/3/17), I drove home from church, parked my car in front of my house and entered my house for less than ten minutes prior to my neighbor knocking on my door to notify me that my Nissan Rogue was engulfed in flames. I had no suspicion that anything was wrong with my vehicle to cause a fire. One block from my house I was pulled over by a cop, who notified me that she saw one of my headlights go out. There was no sound, light or smell that would have indicated a problem with my vehicle. I am grateful for being in my house at the start of the fire. I had no aftermarket upgrades done to my vehicle and it was regularly taken in for oil changes and to have tire maintenance. My concern is another Nissan Rogue owner will not be as lucky as I was and instead will be driving at the time of an engine fire.

When you press the gas pedal, the engine does not go. On numerous occasions, over ten, I have been driving on the interstate (approximately 70mph) and the vehicle begins to decelerate. It does it if the cruise control is set or if I am manually pressing the gas. It has dropped as low as 30 mph without recovery and I have to stop on the side of the road for 20-39 minutes and then attempt to drive again either very slowly (approximately 40 mph) and/or stop frequently to let the engine "rest".

Cvt transmission and cooler - vehicle randomly drops acceleration. When acceleration drops, the car will not go above 40mph even if you put the pedal to the floor, and the rpms rise to 8. no rhyme or reason. This is a known issue with this transmission. Nissan only extended warranty to 2010 models, yet this is the exact issue covered under the extended warranty. There are many other Nissan owners with 2011 models with the same exact issue.

  • 86,000 miles
While driving long distances at high speeds (75-80mph) the car suddenly stopped accelerating even with gas pedal floored. The car automatically decelerated to 50 mph and maxed out at 60 mph. We pulled the car over and checked all fluids, which proved normal. We turned the car off to let it cool for a few minutes. Once the car was turned back on it drove normally for about an hour and then the problem occurred again. This pattern continued for the entire 7 hour road trip. Once we took the car into a Nissan shop, we were told that nothing was found during diagnostic testing. We were also told this was a reoccurring problem with Nissan Rogues due to overheating of transmission/transmission fluid. It was explained to us that Nissan has not made a recall on this, but has only provided warranties for transmission issues on 2008-2010 models. Unfortunately mine is a 2011. This put my family in very dangerous situations as we were on interstates with cars and semi trucks traveling at very high velocities. Semi trucks were honking and flashing lights at us out of anger as it put them in danger as well. This could have easily caused a road rage incident.

Takata recall I would like to inform everyone of our issue on our 2011 Nissan Rogue. While driving on the freeway we lost all power in an instant. This is not safe! we also saw the issue of not being able to accelerate and even when on cruise control it completely falling off due to lack of power.

Rogue

  • 60,000 miles
The 2011 Nissan Rogue has a problem that is common with all of them. When going uphill in the vehicle it looses speed and can no longer accelerate. The car will slow down to around 40 mph. It depends usually on the grade of the hill. This is a safety issue as semi trucks can go faster than what the vehicle is going while going uphill. Cars are trying to pass semi trucks and if the semi truck has to slow down going up hill then they get road raged and this is very dangerous. Nissan will not recognize this issue and demand that an investigation be launched for this type of car. I know that many complaints have been submitted on multiple car complaint websites about this specific issue with this exact year and model of car. If it is happening in many of the vehicles then it is something that is built into the car that Nissan should know about and should be help responsible to fix. Another common result in all the vehicles, this issue just happens to occur right after the warranty expires...50,000 miles.

  • 65,000 miles
While driving down the highway at highway speeds 75mph all of a sudden my vehicle would not go any faster than 40 mph, accelerator to the floor. This happened to me on a few different occasions, however no warning lights ever came on. If I pulled over and shut the car off it seemed to perform "normal" again. And this only happened to me when I was on the highway driving a long distance. Upon the return from my last "long" trip a light did come on. I tool it to my dealer immediately. The diagnosis in a valve body, which I understand is inside the transmission. The factory warranty has run out (by 6,000 miles) at this point and the dealer is saying that they wont replace the valve body without putting an "external coolant" on at the same time, because that is what Nissan is saying needs to be done to prevent this from happening again. My 3rd party warranty company will only cover the cost of the valve body replacement, because they feel it is not their responsibility to pay for something that Nissan should be going good for. Nissan wants to charge me $1000 for that external coolant!!!! after doing my research, this is an on going problem and up until model year 2010 Nissan was going good for the issue. Anything beyond 2010 they will not. After contacting Nissan to request assistance for this, they informed me that my request was denied and that this is where they stand. My bigger issue is that how can a company as reputable as Nissan not go good for a manufacturing mistake on their part!" how is it my problem that they didn't out this coolant on in the first place, and how is it not a safety recall when you are driving on the highway at 70+ mph and then suddenly cant go any faster than 40!!? is it because nobody has been killed yet!" if you do your research you will clearly see that this is an on going issue with this vehicle as well as others manufactured by Nissan.

I was driving home from a out of town trip and all of sudden lost power to accelerate. I couldn't not get any speed and cars were driving up behind me about to hit me and my family. I couldn't not accelerate enough to pull over. Nissan advised it was the cvt transmission which they are not recalling. This is dangerous.

On July 23, 2015, I was driving home at 35 miles per hour and suddenly my vehicle stalled lights flashed on dash board. I turned everything off and attempted to restart it and only heard a trembling noise and clicking of the dashboard. In 1 hour I was able to start the car after getting it jumped. Battery was tested by dealer on July 22,2015 right before I purchased my Rogue 2011( used). Second incident happened in parking lot of a store where I parked to shop on July 31st,2015. I was unable to restart my vehicle until it got jumped again. This vehicle passed all inspections at the dealer and should have no problems with battery, however it is appearing that ipdm is faulty and could cause a crash and even death of my family anytime this happens again while I'm driving this vehicle. Please start recall so no one dies due to this problem!

Rogue

  • 60,000 miles
This incident has occurred twice in exactly the same manner: I was stopped at a red light; when the light changed, and I pressed on the accelerator, there was no response as the car rolled into the middle of the intersection. I pushed several times as traffic waited behind me. Suddenly it "caught, " the power returned, and I was able to continue (the engine did not rev when the accelerator was pressed). Like others, I am extremely concerned (as are those who commute with me), about being caught in the middle of a busy intersection and hit broad-sided. We took the vehicle to the dealership which was unable to identify the problem. This vehicle also has a problem with a blinking air-bag warning light (began in Oct.) which we tried to have fixed at the same time. The dealership reset it, but upon driving out the of the lot, it began blinking again. We were told it was a "possible intermittent problem with air bag module or spiral cable, " an expensive repair which has not been completed yet.

Traveling on interstate from columbia, SC to clinton, SC 2011 Nissan Rogue began loosing power and would not maintain highway speed when climbing hills. With accelerator pushed to floor vehicle speed dropped from 70 down to 50-55 on inclines. Deceleration continued as long as vehicle was on incline. Speed increased when vehicle crested hill. Pulled over, checked transmission fluid and allowed vehicle to cool. Once vehicle cooled problem corrected and we were able to return to columbia. Took vehicle to dick smith Nissan in lexington SC for repair. Dealer was unable to recreate problem and indicated no codes indicated. Problem recurred in May 2014 when returning to lexington, SC from charleston. After approximately 45 minutes at highway speed (70-75 mph) problem re-occurred. Same symptoms - loss of acceleration on inclines - caused vehicle to drop from traffic and unable to maintain safe speed. Pulled over at rest area - checked vehicle. Again reported problem to dealer but unable to recreate problem. October 2014 - problem recurred traveling from lexington to atlanta. Same symptoms loss of power and speed on uphill grade - unable to maintain highway speed. Exited highway at augusta after 1 hour on interstate. When tried to turn left from stop off of exit ramp -pushed accelerator - vehicle started forward and then lost power in intersection blocking two lanes of cross traffic. Vehicle crept through intersection very lucky we were not struck by cross traffic. Plan to return vehicle to dealer again.
