2007 Pontiac G6 I've had since 2009. Within the last year or two, the brake lights appear to be on while the brake is not being pressed. Once the brake pedal is pressed, lights go off then take a couple seconds and turn back on. Dangerous for drivers behind since they can't tell when I am actually braking or not. It basically just seems like I am riding the brakes constantly!

The contact owns a 2007 Pontiac G6. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph the brake light illuminated on the instrument panel multiple times without warning. The vehicle was repaired twice and the failure continued to occur. The contact was advised by the dealer that the failure was unable to be diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70000.

Every so often, either when I first start my G6 or after its been driving for awhile, the brake lights will come on even when the brake pedal is not being pressed. When this happens, it pulls me out of cruise control, because it thinks I'm braking, and cars behind me will honk and flash their lights. I read that this was a recall on 2005 and 2006 Pontiac G6S but I believe this problem went into the 2007 model year also. This happens several times a year at random, although if there's been rain or snow, it seems to happen more frequently.

I've had my car since November 2011. Shortly after purchasing the vehicle I noticed my brake lights were coming on when I would accelerate then shut off when I hit the brakes. I paid to get it fixed, and 6 months later the brake lights quit working period. In 2012, my cruise control quit working and hasn't worked since. I've taken my car to a shop two times in 2013 and they haven't been able to find a permanent fix. I'm 12 weeks pregnant and I don't feel like it is my duty to deal with these problems continuously. I'm not only putting my life in danger, but my unborn child. I have paid three different people to fix this problem and I can't afford temporary fixes. I was never told about any recalls, I had to find it out for myself. As a registered owner, I feel like that again is not my duty. I paid for a car that should be working properly! you should fix these problems or take these vehicles off the road permanently. Please do your job and help me, as I do everyday for my job.

Vehicles brake lights staying on when brakes are not being applied. This issue is on going for over a year and have attempted to have this issue fixed by three different shops even a GM dealer with all saying they can not find an issue. This issue is when the vehicle is in park and when in drive.

When the brake pedal is not being used, the brake lights will stay on and will turn off when the pedal is depressed. Additionally, car hard to shift out of park, and that cruise control does not engage properly.

I have a 2007 Pontiac G6 and I am having issues with the brake lights malfunctioning. The brake lights will come on when I am not pressing down the brakes and when I do press on the brakes the brake lights go off. I have also had trouble shifting out of park. I understand there is a investigation going on that may possibly result in a recall. I just wanted to put my complaint in because I feel this is a huge safety hazard. Also I see alot of other people have complained about this as well. Thanks.

What is happening is that whenever I drive, my brake lights are constantly on. Then, when I step on my brakes, the brake lights turn off. Because of this, my cruise control is not working. This is very unsafe for drivers following me, especially if I would happen to come to a quick stop if there were to be an emergency. I have looked up ways to fix this problem online, and one of the solutions was to apply a special lubricant to an electrical plug. This solution worked for awhile, but now it is not working anymore. Please send out a recall or something to get this fixed! I see G6's all the time while I am driving with this very same problem, and I have read about a lot of people with this same problem online. Thank you for your time!

The brake lights often come on when the brakes aren't applied and do not go on when they are applied. I have had the issue fixed three times. Each time was under my warranty, under a year, so I only had to pay once. The issue happened recently again, but the year warranty has passed already. I do not drive the car often, so it might have still been an issue all along, as I also don't notice it unless it is at night.

When I start the car the brake lights come on and stay on most of the time, without touching the brake pedal. When I do touch the pedal they go out. Also the cruse control stopped working about the same time. I had a mechanic look at it but he couldn't find the problem. I will get a hold of G.M. and try to find the problem. I'm afraid to drive it the way the stop lights work-backwards-.

Last week I was following my son down the highway when I noticed his brake lights were on while driving. I also noticed that when we approached a stop light, his brake lights went off. I have no idea how long he had been driving his vehicle with no brakes lights while braking. Hindsight, most likely, when his cruise control stopped working (early summer). He is a college student that attends a university 3 hours from home and travels the interstate frequently. This is an extremely dangerous situation and I find it very negligent that there has not been a recall on this faulty sensor. Would any employee of General Motors want their child driving a vehicle with no brake lights? please put a recall on these vehicles for this problem.

I own a 2007 Pontiac G6. The brake lights come on when the brake pedal is not even touched. When I do apply the brake, the brake light shuts off. This has caused several "close calls" during highway driving. I am aware that there was a recall for this exact problem on the 2005 and 2006 Pontiac G6's, which was diagnosed as corrosion in a wiring connector problem. Perhaps some of these bad wiring connectors were used in the 2007 cars. I contacted GM and got the "party line" "sorry but your year 2007 is not included in the recall" even though the problem is exactly the same as the recalled 2005's and 2006's. will it take a terrible accident to acknowledge that there is a serious problem here"????????"

Someone stopped me in traffic to let me know my brake lights were on even though I was accelerating. The problem persisted through numerous repair and continues to be on during the entire ride. Also, it is really hard sometimes to get the gear out of park and into another selection. I have spent almost 1,000 dollars in repairsbut the problem still exist.

Brake lights always appear on when driving, brake lights go off when brake pedal is pressed. Because my vehicle shows that the brake lights are always on it effects my cruise control and it will not engage when driving. I have been pulled over and close calls of being hit because when I am actually braking, it shows I am not so vehicles behind me do not know I am applying the brakes.

My brakes lights are staying on while the brake pedal is not pressed and going off when it is. I've replaced the brake switch still not working. The cruise control will not work. When you press the brake pedal the wheel shakes a little bit and the car likes to pull to one side. After reading a few of these reviews and noticing that everyone is having the same issues, somethings needs to be done about this it is not safe for my family to be driving this car the way it is. Im afraid that nothing is going to be done in time until it is to late for someone.

The brake lights on my 2007 Pontiac G6 GT do not operate as they should most of the time. The brake lights come on when the car is running even though the brakes are not being applied, then when I do brake the lights turn off(sometimes they will flash and come back on). This has nearly caused me to be rear ended on multiple occasions with cars swerving out of the lane behind me more than once to avoid hitting the car. Also, this being a smaller issue, when the brake lights are on while I am driving I cannot engage the cruise control or if it has been engaged with the brake lights off when they come on they disengage it.

Our 2007 Pontiac G6 brake lights illuminate when the brake pedal is not depressed. Once the pedal is pressed the lights go off. We have had the car into the dealership at least 5 times for the same issue and we have replaced the lighting switch once. The shop has told us that they have done everything they can do to fix the issue but the problem still exists. This is extremely dangerous on the highway and we have had people behind us lock up their brakes to avoid rear rending us because they aren't aware that we are actually on the brakes when they are following us.

My brake lights are getting stuck on. The issue happened a couple of times shortly after I bought the car, but nothing to worry about. Now each time I drive the car, my brake lights are getting stuck on. When I tap the break, the lights turn off all together. I am going to have to get this repaired since I can be ticketed for this, and/or get into an accident. Faulty brake switch? the issue also causes a problem with my cruise control to refuse to engage.
