My vehicle was stationary at a red light waiting to turn left on a city street in park, as I tried shifting gears back to drive the car jerked forward very intensely ' which it has done multiple times before'. before reaching the drive position. It then proceeded forward out of my control into the back of a truck linking my front bumper to the hinge on the back of the truck.. in the midst of that I immediately tried shifting into reverse but doing so was very difficult has the car kept pressing forward into the back of the truck, so I put the car in park then back to reverse when it finally shifted into the reverse gear vigorously which then abled be to detach from the truck. I pulled to the nearest parking lot to check the damage, and seen multiple leaks not sure where from.

Takata recall, I have a 2007 Pontiac G6 base model. It has 110,756 miles and it breaking down badly. The gear shift, transmission and steering wheel control all started to mess up around the same time. My friends father had the same exact car a few years ago and said that they have a transmission problem and to call the dealership and/or the manufacturer to find a solution to my problem.

Vehicle has been sitting since the first of February due to a constant coolant leak. Leak first appeared at bottom corner passenger side of radiator, and within a week had also showed up on bottom corner driver side of radiator. Eventually wound up replacing the overflow reservoir, 3/4" hose tee located directly under overflow, several clamps, transmission cooling lines, installed brand new radiator and oil pressure switch located directly above oil filter. After 10 days with absolutely no leaks, they reappeared in exactly the same locations. Finally traced leak on passenger side to upper corner passenger side of intake manifold gasket, and the driver side leak traces to almost directly at the coolant crossover pipe gasket. Now, I'm again facing another $200 payout to the parts store.! I'm going to make this repair myself, as I have made all repairs for the previous 6 months. My 07 G6 was wonderful for the first 3 years of ownership, but the last 3 years have become nothing more than an absolute nightmare. If I could file for reimbursement for my expenses during this time I have absolutely no doubt that with the prices of parts, current hourly rate charge set at $75-$100 hour, and reimbursement for time spent wasting time going to pick up parts the total would most likely come out to $8000-$9500. I can't even afford to pay for another vehicle, and sadly I also can't afford to continue investing in a vehicle that has become a mechanical monstrosity with an extremely voracious appetite for parts and money.

Water pump - continuous replacement of water pump about every 2 to 2-1/2 years (after original has quit working) along with thermostat replacement. This process is extremely time consuming and onerous to complete within a typical 8 hour day, along with a fluid drain, flush and replacement with fresh fluid. Also, constant regular replacement of both front hub assemblies, though not quite as time consuming, is still a burdensome issue. Especially as neither the individual front hub assemblies or the water pump is inexpensive. The 3 front hub assemblies - 2 for the front left since April of 2016 & soon to be 2 right front hub assemblies since March of 2016 (both of which locked up or "froze up" therefore not allowing the wheel to turn at all. Both instances of the water pump failure could have resulted in very serious engine damage and/or failure had the problem not been diagnosed promptly. I can ill afford to continue replacement of either part at current prices every couple of years, never mind the inconvenience and loss of usually both class time and availability for work. Problems began March 21, 2013 and continue through today, as I am still assessing how to afford a second much needed hub assembly for the right front of my vehicle. This, along with at least another $500 (minimum) for other parts needed to complete current mechanical issues and needs, is difficult to afford. Especially when all parts that are included in the previous mentioned amount are most definitely necessary to insure the safety of occupants and others who may be around should one or more parts fail while vehicle is in motion.

While driving on highway at 60 mph on highway right line almost at my exit. The gps fell from the window and must of hit the area of the shift column it didn't come out of drive though. The car shut off. I was able to move over to the shoulder push the flashes and emergency break when the brakes did not work just a large nose steering didn't work well. Bringing it to the dealership and have them check the steering column out again. This is the 2nd time the car shut off while driving I feel this is a part of the original recall in 2015 that listed this make, model and year Pontiac G6 2007 Massachusetts route 2 West leominster. MA. restarted the car, got to my destination, and drove home that night lower speeds.

I have attempted to speak to the dealer I purchased this car from and have been unsuccessful. I have an engine oil leak, gas leak, and I am not able to turn my wheel left or right as something is and has been going on with my powersteering. I have paid for repairs but have been pushed off and given the run around about all that I have said. My car is and has been unsafe to drive and now I do not know what to do as it has gotten terribly worse. I have been advised that all recalls were done (by the dealer), and other sources have advised me they could not have been done with the problems that I am been having and that I am currently having.

General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in 2004-2012 Malibu, 2004-2007 Malibu maxx, 2005-2010 Pontiac G6, 2007-2010 Saturn aura vehicles. On these vehicles, over time an increased resistance can develop in the body control module (BCM) connection system and result in voltage fluctuations or intermittency in the brake apply sensor (bas) circuit that can cause service brake lamp malfunction. As a result, the service brake lamps may illuminate when the service brakes are not being applied, or may not illuminate when the service brakes are being applied. Additionally, cruise control may not engage. If cruise control is engaged, additional service brake pedal travel may be required to disengage it. Service brake pedal application may not be required to move the shift lever out of park, or additional service brake pedal travel may be required to move the shift lever out of park. Traction control, electronic stability control, and panic braking assist features, if equipped, may be disabled. Service ESC and/or traction control tell-tales may illuminate with this condition. General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in 2004-2008 my Chevrolet Malibu (gmx380) and 2005-2008 my Pontiac G6 with 4-speed transmissions (MN5); except for vehicles already repaired under safety recall 12106 12V-460 with labor code V2671 or V2672 and 2007 and some 2008 my Saturn aura vehicles equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission (ME7/MN5). These vehicles have a condition in which the transmission shift cable may fracture at any time.

While driving on the express way, all of a sudden the reduced engine power / service traction control alert comes on..I have an 07 pontic G6 that keeps giving me a "reduced engine power" message, then cuts your power and you can't drive more than about 30 mph. This is so dangerous to have the power go from 70 mph to 30, it keeps doing that. I have replaced the gas peddle ($180) and it still does that, so I am have the throddle body replaced, god knows what that is going to cost me. Is there any recalls on this happening to others? like I said, it is very dangerour when your pulling out in front of cars and it does this.

May 2013 engine shuts off when manually downshifting. Restarts shortly afterwards. April 2014 engine shuts off after decelerating to drive over a speed hump. Will not immediately restart and must be towed. Tow truck driver is able to get car started by jiggling the key. April 28, 2015 engine shuts off while waiting at stoplight. Will not restart and must be towed. Again, tow truck driver jiggles the key to start the engine. April 30, 2015 fuel system service and adjust loose transmission cable - $203.25 check engine light comes back on the next day. May 8, 2015 engine shuts off after decelerating to drive over a speed hump. Restarts shortly afterwards. May 15, 2015 engine shuts off while coming to a stop to let a car in front turn left. Car restarts after a few minutes. Every time the engine shuts off, the power steering and power breaks fail as well. Fortunately, every one of the nearly half-dozen times this has happened, it has occurred at low speed or while stopped. I can only imagine what would happen if this occurred at 70 mph on the highway. Although the G6 is not included as one of the 20 models and 2.6 million cars recalled for a faulty ignition switch, the likenesses between my issues and these other cars are strikingly similar.
