my problem is the door ajar warning stays on, dome lights stays on, the drivers side door won't unlock in the back unless you do it manually, and the horn activates when you lock the doors with the remote. it just makes me wonder because it makes me think that the car might catch fire. how do i solve this problem thanks

I am at my wits end with this damn car.

Recently I was driving my brother to the airport. While we were driving down the express way (mind you it was about 45min into the trip) the "DOOR AJAR" popped up on my screen, the lights came on, and the car started dinging. It did this for the remainder of the trip off and on. When we got there I opened all the doors shut them and then drove home with no problem.

Yesterday I was on lunch at work. I pulled out of the parking lot and all that I mentioned above started again and did not stop. I got back to work turned off the car locked the door and went inside. About 5 minutes after that I could hear the alarm going off in the lot honking and carrying on. I went out there unlocked it, then locked it back up. Now this time the dome lights remained on for 10 minutes. I got back in the car and manually turned them off as I did not want to have a dead battery.

After work I got back in the car. When I put it in drive the doors did not lock. instead it said "DOOR AJAR" and wouldnt lock the drivers door as the car thought that the door was open and the key was in the ignition so it will not lock the driver door.

Finally got home and once again locked the door only for the alarm to sound again.

Tomorrow I am going to take it to the dealership and find out what tht hell is going on.

If anyone has had this issue please let me know!

Thanks!

Update from Mar 23, 2010: I took the car to the dealership. They told me that it is a common problem with the G6's and the new Malibu's. The problem is the door latch sensor. If the car is not under warranty it would cost around $200 to get it fixed....
