air bag cover not sitting flat

Airbags will not deploy after recall work was done. THIS IS WHERE IT ALL STARTED AIRBAG RECALL My first call to Pontiac 1-800-762-2737 was on July 14, 2016 after I had gone to Raceway Chevrolet to have my airbag recall fixed and they gave me my car keys and I opened the door and saw the air bag cover was up about 3 inched from the dash board, so I ran inside and got the clerk and she came out to my car and said that that should not be like that and she would go get the mechanic. When he came out side he started pushing down on the air bag cover trying to make it go down, I told him that that pushing down on the airbag like that was not safe and it might explode out. He could not get it to go down so he then pulled out my glove compartment and went in from the bottom and tried, it was still up. He said that he had to take it back in the shop for about 15 minutes. They pulled my car around again and gave me my keys, when I got in my car the airbag was still up a little from the dash I started the car up and the airbag light came on so I went back in to see the clerk and told her that the airbag light was on and she went back to talk to the mechanic and came back and said that it was on when I bought it in and I told her that my air bag light was not on, I only brought the car in because of the airbag recall card that I received in the mail. They did nothing about trying to correct the airbag light nor correcting the way the airbag cover was left. I told her that I would have to find out who to contact about this and I left there and called Pontiac when I got home and told them what happened, someone there instructed me to go to another certified dealer in my area so they called Auddy Brown in Darlington South Carolina. They told me to come in on Thursday July 16 at 7:30am. I got there and waited 20 min. and they told me that they had to order parts and will call me when they come in. When they called I took the car back August 1, 2016 at 7:30pm I waited there 15 min. and they came and told me that they can’t do the recall because it was already done by Raceway Chevrolet, 1510 so. 5th Street, P.O. Box 820 Hartsville, South Carolina 29551 and they had wasted money ordering the parts and said the airbag light should not be on.

I then came home and called Pontiac again and was referred to Mr. Luther and I told him what had happed all over again and he gave me a reference # 8-2230327233. Mr. Luther said Mary Beth Bennett who is the Customer Experience Manager at Raceway Chevrolet. She will be your main point of contact, and can be reached at (843) 332-0185. He said he would send an email with this information on it which he did and said to allow a few days and she or he would contact me.

I waited an few days no contact maid so I called Mary Beth Bennett who is the Customer Experience Manager at Raceway Chevrolet and said no one from Pontiac has contacted her and that she knows who I am and what happened, because she was the one I showed my airbag to, but did not offer

I have called and emailed you on August 4, 2016 in regard to my 2004 Pontiac Vibe airbag recall issue with Raceway Chevrolet, 1510 so. 5th Street, P.O. Box 820 Hartsville, South Carolina 29551. In the previous email I told you that the woman I had spoke to and showed the airbag in my car was the same contact person you told me to contact. Mary Beth Bennett, who is the Customer Experience Manager at Raceway Chevrolet. She will be your main point of contact, and can be reached at (843) 332-0185 ) I spoke to her and she knows everything I told you. She saw with her own eyes and know I complained about it, but did nothing then and nothing now.

Mary Beth Bennett said that no one from Pontiac had contacted her about anything. This is a serious safety issue to me The airbag light staying on and the airbag cover not seated down like it should be. I need to send all this information to someone who can help me. This should not happen to anyone. If you can direct in the right direction I would very much appreciate it.

A Pontiac representative called me on August 19, 2016 after reading another email I sent to them and after I called them and left a messages again about the airbag light being on and the airbag cover sticking out of the dash board. A call was placed to called Raceway Chevrolet for a three way call. After I repeated all that happened after they did the recall work and why I was upset, Mary Beth Bennett, who is the Customer Experience Manager at Raceway Chevrolet hung up. The Pontiac representative put me on hold while she called Raceway Chevrolet back. When she switched back to put me on the 3way call she had Mr. Linden, Raceway Chevrolet Manager on the line and she talked to him about the airbag light and the airbag cover, he said that my car was probably in an accident since I bought it used and the recall part is not picking up that the airbag is there. Mr. Linden told the Pontiac representative that he would give me a free 30 minute courtesy check on Monday August 22, 2016. I did check to see if my 2004 Pontiac Vibe was in an accident and there was no record of an accident.

On Monday August 22, 2016, I took my car back to Raceway Chevrolet, in Hartsville South Carolina and asked for Mr. Lindon. Mr. Lindon came and asked for my keys and said that he was going to get the hand held car reader and it won’t be long. He returned in 10 minutes and said come with me. I went to his office sat down as he told me about a used car that could have been in an accident and that could cause the airbag light to come after the recall part was replaced, which I did not understand then and now either. He said that it would cost 15,000 to replace an airbag in my car and 199.00 just to check it. I told him that’s a new car and I don’t have that kind of money. He informed me that if I am in an accident that my airbags would not deploy. I said what? This don’t make any since. I took my car for an airbag recall and now my airbag light stays on and the airbag cover sticks up from the dashboard and I have scratches on the dashboard that were not there before I took it in for the air bag recall. My blood pressure shot up and every time I get in my car and look at the airbag light and the airbag cover I think of Mary Beth Bennett, who is the Customer Experience Manager at Raceway Chevrolet, Mr. Linden, Raceway Chevrolet Manager, and the mechanic who did the recall work. Please be careful of the all recalls. I pray no one goes through what I did with this airbag recall. This is unfair and unsafe.

This is what I am living with every day I go out in an unsafe car. Airbags will not deploy after recall work was done.
