Took truck in for recall work last week, yesterday drive it to work, come out at lunch... use key fob to open, but key fob no longer recognized by the truck. Key fob works for everything else.. unlocks, auto starts, alarm..etc... just will not turn the truck over to start engine. Looked online, disconnected battery waited...reconnected...still nothing. Called all the dealerships, they say it could be the key fob, or the module ...so either $260 key or much more if it's the module. I believe i would have been fine had I not brought the truck in for the recall last week. Dodge service people don't seem to know what's causing the issue.

I stop at my dealers, shut truck off, come back out after ten minutes and it doesn't want to start. Has happened often to almost 30 times since I purchased the vehicle. Dealer tells me nothing he can do, it doesn't set a code in the computer. It doesn't happen for the dealer when they have it.

Put key in ignition truck will not start, does not do anything, like someone took the battery out of the truck. Tried spare key, still no luck. Tried it three times, and it finally started.

No big deal, it has happened several times. Just hit a button on the fob to let the electronics in the truck know that this fob belongs the this truck and it works just fine.

This experience with Chrysler has been beyond frustrating. As bad as this truck has been, Chrysler customer service has been much worse. I drive roughly 120 miles a day for work and at the moment I am forced to use a borrowed 1992 model truck as my new truck that I am making payments on can't even be trusted enough to be shut off at a gas station.

After searching the web for any possible solutions I found that a class action lawsuit has been filed against Chrysler for TIPM problems. These symptoms match mine however my year model is not included. This has shaped up to be the biggest financial mistake of my life. If you are considering the purchase of one of these vehicles please don't put yourself in the position that I am in. Who knows where I will be the next time this truck leaves me stranded.

1500 Big Horn 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,025 miles

I bought my Dodge Ram Big Horn package new on 31 Aug 2013 in Plattsmouth, NE. I drove it to Virginia in early October 2013 and on two occassions it failed to start. When I turned the key, some of the dash lights and Xmsn lights came on but nothing else. After turning the key multiple times it eventually started. I took it to my dealer upon return and they could not duplicate the problem and there was no computer codes on the diagnostics.

A few months later it happened again while I was at a local store, had to try multiple times to start. I drove the truck to Enid, OK over Memorial Day 2014 and it failed to start once while in Enid and again on the return trip. I took the car back to the dealership and once again they could not find the cause. It happened again since Memorial Day and I took it back to the dealer and they kept my truck for about 7 days and could not duplicate it. I have taken my truck back to the dealer 3 times for this problem but no joy. I am not saying the dealership is not going a good job, I think they are trying to fix the problem but cannot determine the cause.

Also since buying the truck, I've had to take it back to have the cruise control replaced and door lock electronics fixed. The starting problem is causing me to lose faith in the reliability of the truck. I fear that I will be out somewhere in the boondocks and not be able to start the truck. I really like the Ram Truck, how it rides, how it looks, but am not liking the problems with starting. Hopefully I can get the problem resolved.
