ASCM- Faulty design!! Temporary fix to get you home/work or till it’s summer or till you get rid of it!!
Below 32F Air Suspension fails and throws itself into protection mode: Battery level too low to raise height, start engine or Immediate air suspension... I’ve replaced 2 batteries within 2 years because the system kills it, and it still does not fix issue. So after years of dealership visits with no actual solutions, these are the only 4 options until Dodge fixes their issues that I found help me. Now this is not going to work if your air suspension actually has damage or the compressor is bad. This Is just a temporary fix to get you to work or home. I’ve been doing this for almost 5 years, and other than this issue, the truck works fantastic.
1. Don’t buy Air Suspension truck. Lol
2. ONLY drive it in the summer.
3. When air suspension fails - stop the truck, shut off, disconnect battery for 5 seconds, reconnect battery and start it with remote start (if you have that option). Don’t hit the start button but hit raise. Once it starts raising because it WILL, then hit start. This option may have to be repeated a few times within x amount of miles, but it works so you're not driving on no suspension.
4. Locate ASCM fuse. When truck is off, pull it and start truck. Wait for air suspension message on dash, then shut truck off. Replace fuse, and remote start (if you have that option) and before like option 3, hit up on suspension and when it starts raising, then hit start and like option 3 - it will either work for the day or you may have to repeat every so many miles but it does work!! I travel 100 miles for work 1 way and had to repeat it 3 times but it works.
Also - if you do have remote start, use it and select height before hitting start.
If this was a compressor issue then these options would not work, because of obvious reasons! If you don’t have auto start these options should work as well. Hopefully this will help someone!
FCA canceled my replacement part order twice, and was unable to fulfill the warranty until almost 4 months later! FCA was extremely difficult to work with, and my problem returned just two days ago. Now FCA will not help me, and have directed me to a dealer 5 hours away. I'm stuck with the vehicle as it's almost impossible to trade off without the issue being resolved. The dealers and manufacture know about the issue, but refuse to provide a satisfactory fix.
RAM 1500 air suspension. Reading about people having a lot of trouble with this system. Freezing up in cold weather, however the dealer wants to replace the compressor etc $3000 - 4000 and cannot guarantee it will fix it.
