Going home after Thanksgiving dinner at our daughters OCTOBER 22, 2019 9:20 PM from Saskatoon. We are now past Whitefox heading down Highway 35 to the Nipawin bridge (under construction, One Lane) crossing the Saskatchewan river. Just before you head downhill we hit a deer head on. That impact damaged something in the computer??? That caused the brakes to totally fail and the engine increased to high RPM's and there was nothing we could do about it. We immediately put the truck in neutral, reverse park and nothing happened, it was like it was disconnected.

The brakes to the floor and gas pedal on its own to the floor heading down a big hill to a one lane bridge over Saskatchewan River. This is the scariest experience you can imagine. unintentional suicide. Last minute my husband driving, we knew we had to get off highway or we are dead. I spotted an approach on opposite side of highway and screamed take the approach in which he did but only half hit it, so we ended up hitting a ditch when I heard my back crack and I started screaming about my back. He lost his glasses so couldn't see anything. NOTE this was about 9:20 PM so it is pitch dark. Luckily the airbags didn't deploy or we wouldn't have been able to see road to exit highway, so that was a malfunction too.

The truck made a big circle in the field and finally came to a stop on its own, But we think the hard impact of hitting the ditch disengaged the throttle and that's why it came to a stop. We must have hit the ditch about 80-90 KPH.

I ended up with a fractured vertebrae and my husband escaped with no injury other than in shock as to what just happened.

WE WILL NOT DRIVE THAT TRUCK AGAIN, IT NEEDS TO BE PARTED OUT AND CRUSHED.

DOES NO ONE CARE ABOUT LIVES OR IS IT ALL ABOUT $$$$$$ I CALLED DODGE AND REPORTED IT AND ALL THEY SAY IS IT HAS TO BE DEALT WITH BY INSURANCE. SOMEONE WILL BE DEAD IF THIS TRUCK IS BACK ON THE ROAD.

Got out of work one morning 11-11-2020 and the truck won't start. There was no power to the truck and it would not start. I tried to turn the key again a couple times [it started with the wrong key fob at one point] then I was like, what the hell, so I tried the key again and the truck started. I was like this is weird, I had a new battery put in this truck 1 year ago.

Just then, I remember that a friend of mine stated that just 4 months ago he had a problem with the same year truck 2014 Ram 1500. He changed the battery to his truck and to the key fob. He thought problem was fixed, but nope the problem kept getting worse. He got stuck at work and had to get the truck towed to the garage to get it fixed. His problem was the key ignition switch.

My problem kept getting worse ever time I tried to start my truck. I changed the battery to the key fob thinking maybe that is the problem. NOPE, not the problem. The key ignition switch was the problem. It took me sometimes 5 mins to start my truck. Every time I turned my truck off, I was thinking, is this were I get stuck?

I brought it to the dealership that Saturday, but the truck couldn't get fixed until that following Wednesday. I didn't drive my truck for 3 days because I didn't want to get stuck somewhere. It cost me $930.00 dollars to fix the problem. Problem fixed but what the hell - electrical technology sucks. Go back to the normal key unit.

While driving with the cruise control on, the control panel goes blank. All of the gauges go to zero and the cruise control shuts off. Most of the time it is only a split second. Usually I can depress the Resume button on the cruise control and things return to normal. Yesterday, the entire truck turned off! The dealership says they have no idea why it does it? I'm all ears for a solution.

This is the 4th time it has happened. The first three I reported to Browns Motors Greenfield mass. The looked at the computer and said it didn't record it so they cannot find the problem. This morning it happened again. I came off the I 91 ramp and at the bottom I had an electrical shut down of the engine, and almost a collision with the car in back of me who thought I should have excellerated through the rotory but couldn't. It read on the dash put into park and restart the engine. I will again report this to Brown motors but don't expect any solution. Most of the forums have similar complaints but dodge doesn't seen to care.

1500 LX Hemmi

I was driving through Edmonton AB and the truck which was three or four months old just completely died, didn't feel a surge jerk nothing just total shutdown. There were no warning lights nothing just died, I pulled over to side of road had no lights not even enough power to turn on the clock on the dash, keys wouldn't come out of ignition.

I tried to start it nothing at all total electrical shut down, after about 20 min on side of city street and all fired up again, if this were to happen on highway or pulling out in front f a semi truck would be a disaster.

Potentially a very dangerous problem which could cause serious injury or even death. The entire electrically system shut down....lost brakes, steering, lights flashed, wiper blades went off then everything completely shut down. Could not take key out of ignition, truck was completely dead. Could not even put truck in neutral when tow truck tried to tow vehicle.

Dodge dealer said it would cost $3,000.00 to fix but would do the repair for $500. Was not under warranty.

1500 Quad Cab 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission

On 12/13/2014, I purchased a new, 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 in San Antonio, Texas. On 01/23/2015, after accumulating 1000 miles on the odometer, I triggered the key fob to unlock the vehicle only to have the entire electrical system fail. I could not start the vehicle no matter what I tried.

I notified Dodge and had the vehicle towed to the dealership on 01/24/2015. After several visits to the dealership and numerous telephone calls, I could not receive any definitive answer as to what was being diagnosed or done to fix the problem. Eventually, I had to open a case file through Dodge Customer Service. They too, were met with the same uncertainty and could not provide any additional information.

After 40 days in maintenance and a great deal of acquired stress, the vehicle was finally returned in working order. The cause – a faulty, Total Integrated Power Module (TIPM). Upon further investigation of this unit I have come to find that (1) Chrysler is aware of this issue, (2) there is a national back-order for TIPM’s stretching months, and (3) legal action is pending.

Due to the circumstances that I had to endure, I no longer want this truck, nor do I trust its integrity. Although the system failed at my home, it could have very well happened on the road and caused ‘who knows what’. I am done with this vehicle.
