When coming to a stop, vehicle fuel shifts in tank forcing vehicle unexpectedly forward under braking. If unprepared for the shift, which only happens under braking when the truck downshifts, the truck will overpower the currently applied brakes taking more time to stop. This can result in a collision with a stopped vehicle or object if the driver does not apply harder braking.

On May 29,2018. I rearended a semi truck. I had my foot on the brake pressed to the floor but vehicle would not come to a complete stop. When towed to collision center I addressed my concerns to them that I felt my vehicle was defective due to the truck maintaining speed while I was applying brakes. They plugged it into scan tool and four default codes came up. (ABS, airbag, power steering, door module)I then proceeded to open a claim with daimler Chrysler. What was supposed to be the main concern that was supposed to be investigated was why default codes came up & truck was not stopping to avoid collision. Daimler Chrysler assured me there third party investigator would investigate all the issues (all default codes). They where sent out, plugged truck into scan tool and took pictures. Third party sent my husband & I a copy of what the crash test data was.been calling them for answers since my truck has been sitting for month & a half untouched. To find out that they only investigated air bag issue & not other very serious mechanical safety issues. Clearly documented in crash test data, from my vehicle, states positive torque to motor with pedal pressure of accelerator reading at 0% & while brakes where being applied. I have documents to prove my statements. Also at time of accident my VIN was not included in the current recall of cruise control. On June 14th,2018 my husband checked our VIN again & it is now included in current recall. At the time of accident my cruise control was not engaged. But the recall is due to the powertrain control module or engine control module not removing positive torque requests from the can-B. if can-B stops communicating with the ECM or PCM. Also all other default codes should be investigated like the power steering that pulled to one side while I was braking. Their are to many issues with my vehicle that they know about & are hiding.

The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. While driving at a low speed, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to stop at an intersection. The failure occurred without warning. The contact was able to stop the vehicle by pumping the brake pedal several times. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that both brake pads on the driver's side detached from the vehicle. The contact had all the brake pads replaced by the independent mechanic and was informed to notify the dealer of the failure. The contact did not notify the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

Traveling on highway in winter conditions the trucks anti-lock/ABS/traction control /4X4 and cruise control all stopped working and the dash warning lights started flashing. At 65 mph while accelerating with traffic up hill on a corner on wintery roads the 4 wheel drive just stopped working and the traction control was lost. The truck went into several 360 degree spins and cam to a stop on the far right shoulder. No other vehicles were struck and I was able to avoid the bridge abutment. After taking the vehicle to lithia Dodge of wasilla I was told the warranty was expired (48,100 miles at the time of the incident) but the dealer could not get the truck in for over a week. After the dealer looked at the truck they replaced the R-rear speed sensor and said that was the issue. I went to pick up the truck and the issue was not resolved. I left the truck again at the dealer. They then indicated the issue was in the wiring harness. I took the truck home to inspect the wiring. I tested the continuity of the conductors that the dealer had indicated were the issue and found no defects. I took the truck back and explained my findings, they indicated that the tech had "guessed" that the issue was the harness. After returning to get my truck the dealer said it was repaired, they had performed unauthorized work, cut my harness and spliced as they said that was the issue, but the issue was not fixed. I took the truck to another lithia dealer who indicated the harness was damaged beyond repair by the dealer, you cant splice the harness(?) according to the other dealer and it needs to be replaced in whole. They could not work on it any more to fix the issue due to the harness issue caused by the unauthorized repair performed by the other lithia dealer. Truck still has no 4X4, ABS, traction control or cruise control. This failurecould be a severe safety issue and result in accidents.

Truck had sudden acceleration twice and it couldn't be stopped with the brakes either time. Once it totally lost power and was towed to the dealer. The sudden acceleration is very dangerous ' makes the truck move at a high speed suddenly and unable to be stopped with the brakes. We drove through two fences. We have pictures of the fences and the tracks the truck made in the snow.

I am from pittsburgh, pa. Last Tuesday morning, I shoveled my driveway and then got into my truck and went to a nearby sheetz and got some gas. I returned to my home and backed my truck down my driveway and parked and put my truck into park and applied the E-brake and shut off the truck. I then went inside my home and walked into my kitchen. About 3-4min later I was randomly looking out of my back window and I see my truck in my neighbors back yard against their fence. It appears my truck rolled away down my driveway. I thought it might of been because of weather conditions but I heard on the news about a potential federal investigation of these types of accidents form Ram trucks from 2014-2016. I was literally shocked by what happened to my truck as I am almost certain I both had the shiftier in park and applied the E-brake. I currently had to submit a claim to erie insurance and am in the process of getting my truck fixed after $3500 dollars in damages. If you need anymore details my number is [xxx]. thanks [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The brake pedal on this generation of Ram 1500 pickups sits considerably higher than the gas pedal. This means when depressing the gas pedal, if you quickly have to move to the brake, your foot can become stuck under the brake pedal. The brake pedal should be lowered as its height is too high. Raising the gas pedal would make it too high as well creating a different problem. There are many discussions online about this problem.

I entered my Dodge Ram with only 5000 miles on it and put my foot on the brake to start it and the pedal went to the floor. I started the vehicle and still had no brakes. I retried this numerous times with same result. I put it in gear and went down the driveway and had no brakes. I backed up and still had no brakes. Finally after shutting off the vehicle the brakes went back to normal. I was on my way to work traveling about 40 mph and approached a stop sign and had no brakes again. The petal went to the floor and it felt like the ABS may have been slowing the vehicle. If there was a car in front of me or if I hadn't started braking way early I would have crashed. After that I finished my drive to work without further issues. I called the manager of the dealership and have not heard back from him yet.

Truck is 1 year old with 26,000 miles. Rotors need machining or replacing. Was told that daily commuting in rush hour traffic has caused the rotors to overheat and become pitted causing the brakes to now squeak when applied at low speeds. No towing involved. Truck is used as a daily commuter. Mostly highway travelling, but rush hour is stop and go for a good 10 miles each way. 3 different service departments have informed me this is pretty common due to the nickel component in the rotors. They are recommending replacing them or machining them at a cost of $250 plus new pads even though they do not need replacing. Rotors were only warranted for 1 year or 12,000 miles.

12/2015 I was on my way home from work and went to turn into a bank atm and couldn't slow or stop my truck for the turn. The brakes went almost all the way to the floor. I started pumping them and was finally able to slow and stop the truck. I took my truck to a dealer and they said they could not duplicate the problem. The issue happened again 2 weeks later and I took my truck to the dealer that I purchased it from. They also could not find any issues with the brakes being soft. 5/4/2016 I again had issues. I got into the truck; started it up went to put my foot on the brake to put the truck into drive and the brakes were soft. I had to pump them brakes a few times before I could put it in drive. I love my Dodge trucks; but this is a serious issue.

The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 15V661000 (power train) but the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. In addition, the contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the check engine and ABS warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,500. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

2015 Ram 1500 laramie limited 4X4 component part or system that caused the safety risk - unknown my truck was purchased new with 115 miles on the odometer on 10/13/2015 at hebert's Town & Country. On 10/16/2015, with just over 200 miles on the odometer, my wife and I were returning home from date-night. We were traveling at 60 mph down LA3132 when the instrument cluster went black, the engine shutdown, most all electronics, to include the headlights, ceased functioning and the RPM & mph gauges constantly bounced up and down. I was able to coast safely to the shoulder of the road as the traffic was light. I could not restart the vehicle so, it had to be towed back to the dealership. Five days later, I took re-delivery of my truck with an additional 200 miles added to the odometer and a verbal explanation (no paperwork) that the power distribution center had to be replaced. Upon re-delivery with my salesman present, I attempted to start the vehicle and the instrument cluster blacked out and the gauges bounced. My salesman went to get a service tech but, while he was gone, I heard a click in the dash and everything started working again. On 12/11/2015, with just under 60 days ownership and right at 700 miles on the odometer, I was returning home from shopping, traveling down a residential street, when the exact same problems suddenly happened again. This time, I was traveling at 30 mph and approaching an S-curve with no headlights and no street lights. I lost control of the vehicle as the brakes were very hard to apply and I almost had an accident before finally getting it stopped. The vehicle had to be towed back to the dealership again because I could not restart it and the gauges were bouncing. My truck is currently at the dealership. I'm not sure I want to take re-delivery of this particular truck.

I was traveling on I-35 from austin to san antonio in my brand new 2015 Dodge 1500 when my 'service antilock brake system' light came on, the truck started shacking so hard I could barely hold it on the road, when I got pulled over the driver side back tire was on fire, right under the gas tank. The left rear caliper had a massive failure that clamped down on the pad.

My wife and I were driving on the highway and the brakes were automatically deployed a few times without touching them. This happened three times and the third time was two days ago and we brought the vehicle into Chrysler Jeep Ram in alhambra, ca to be examined. They test drove it and examined the vehicle. The vehicle does not have an automatic breaking mechanism and they could not duplicate the issue. Each time of the breaking, the cruise control was not on and we do not believe we even had the foot on the gas pedal. We feel this is a serious life safety issue that should be looked into. We purchased this one thinking it was a safe truck, yet now we are very concerned. I hope someone will look into this matter. If this happened in heavy traffic, I am sure we would be rear ended.
