My 2015 Ram 1500 4X4 with the 5.7 liter Hemi was bought used with around 44,000 miles at a RAM dealer. It now has 49,250 miles on it and the check engine light has come on and throwing the code P018C. This is for the Fuel Pressure Sensor. When shown to the dealer they told me it could be one of 10,000 thing anywhere from just disconnecting the battery for 5-10 minutes up to the truck exploding if I continued to drive it. They also told me it would cost around $120 to diagnose the problem. The truck is supposed to have a 5 year/ 100000 mile warranty. Why would they charge a fee to cover a powertrain issue which is stated in their own handbook as being covered? This exact part is listed! Well needless to say I was frustrated. They are telling me it is probably and electrical ground problem that I would have to pay for of course. I am calling bullshit on this. I am taking it to another dealership for a second opinion that I am sure will find a different result with the same outcome of " its not covered by warranty". I guess I better prepare for a fight. I would rather pay a local mechanic to fix it rather than the dealer. The funny thing is no one has checked the actual fuel pressure sensor for problems. The part (original Mopar) is less than $50 to buy. Don't get me wrong I love my RAM, just not their dealers and definitely not their service departments.
