While driving in the snow, at approximately 35mph, my instrument panel lit up like a Christmas tree with multiple errors along with the check engine light. I immediately took my foot off of the gas to find a safe spot to pull over however the truck took off as if I hit resume on the cruise control. I used the brake and the truck slowed - however, once I released the brake, the truck immediately began to speed up again without my using the gas pedal.

I was able to stop and turn off the truck. The acceleration problem was no longer present but the check engine and traction lights stayed on and now, I had barely any acceleration no matter how far the gas pedal was pressed down. I again turned off the truck and started it back up. Traction warning light gone, check engine light remained but now I had normal acceleration.

The codes I received were Throttle Position Sensor P2138 and P2127.

Of course it took 8 days for an appointment and after driving an hour and waiting for 2 and 1/2 hours, I was told because the codes existed in the memory but were no longer "active", and there was nothing the dealership could do.

Same problem with self accelerating happened again today. Hoping they find the problem because this is a major safety concern. I need this issue fixed so I can feel safe driving my brand new truck again.

Dec 102018

Bought this truck in October 2018. Been driving it with no problems until Dec. The other day while on the highway the trucks throttle control warning light came on, then the parking brake warning and then the steering control warning. This was alarming, but not as alarming as the gas pedal no longer responding to being pushed. Instead it was self accelerating at high speeds, thank god the brake still worked. The gas pedal continued not working and it kept accelerating until I was able to pull over. I turned the car off and back on and it seemed to momentarily fix it. I took it to Dodge the next day and they said it looked to be the sensor, cleared the codes and said I'd be good. Unfortunately, this happened today again in traffic and it was a little harder to control. I was able to get it to a nearby dodge, but slamming on the brakes to avoid an accident and then not being able to accelerate on my own was a big problem. Its still in for service, but if it continues I might be utilizing the lemon law policy in Florida cause this shouldn't be happening on a brand new truck that costs 50k.
