I took my 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiese to a Chrysler-Dodge-Ram dealership on 9/23/25 for the High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) safety recall. I was told a part had to be ordered to complete the recall and gave me a rental vehicle. After a few days I contacted the dealership about my repair. They said the wrong part was ordered and the new one was in route. After about a week, I called the dealership again and I was told "the truck won't start and they were working with Stellantis to figure out why." Several more days passed, I called again, they stated that after the new pump was installed and the truck was started it "blew a rod, " but they had fixed it, test drove it, and it would be ready for pick up the next day. I picked up the truck on 10/16/25 and drove less than 50 miles (first trip home from the dealership.) While traveling at highway speed on interstate 77 at night, the truck suddenly lost all engine power, a -??throttle-?? warning message appeared, I noticed a strong odor of burnt oil, and I was only able to get from the left passing lane across to the right truck lane, only getting 2 tires on the shoulder (see pic). The truck would not start again, it just made a click-click-click sound. I jumped out of the truck as there was a truck in that lane coming toward me and ran into the woods to escape. I and the truck were nearly struck by traffic. This was a life-threatening situation. Luckily, a Courtesy Patrol saw me and blocked the lane with road flares. Eventually the truck was towed (had to be dragged on to the flatbed). At that time I noticed engine oil was splashed all over the underside of truck. It was towed to the same dealership. This catastrophic failure occurred hours after I was told it was safe to drive. This incident placed my life and the lives of other motorists at extreme risk. A recall intended to improve safety appears to have introduced a new, severe safety hazard. The truck has been at the dealership since 10/17/25 and I have not been updated since.
Turn signal does not shut off regardless of the position of the turn signal switch. Appears to be an issue with the SSCM. The malfunction makes safe turning/lane-changing impossible. It has been confirmed by the dealership but has not been inspected. There was no forewarning prior to the malfunction and no indication besides the malfunction itself.
On June 26, 2025 there was heavy thunderstorms throughout our area. I was driving to my office to pick up an item and all of a sudden my dashboard lit up with numerous error messages. I turned the truck off and could not get it to start again. I had to have it towed to the dealership and they cleaned some electrical connectors and returned it to me. My wife picked it up and on the drive home the windshield wipers went off and she also had numerous error messages on the dashboard so we returned it to the dealership. They replaced some modules as they found rust and returned the truck to me. When I went to the dealership to pick it up the truck would not start. They then said there was some corrosion in the star connectors and some moisture behind the radio. They replaced parts and returned it back to me. Since then I have had the truck back and had three more electrical issues with the vehicle. The service technician does not know what the error is and is having trouble pinpointing the problem. Its an electrical issue that they can't figure out. Tomorrow I am returning my truck for the sixth time for the same issue. I do not trust the truck to drive around and have not been able to use it for over 60 days.

On multiple occasions while making a slow turn. My vehicle would shut off put itself in park and set the emergency brake. My truck does have the etorque and I see this is a known issue with etorques. I it happened a few times and I thought it was just a fluke but after my last incident I did some research and found out it is an issue.
The dashboard leather on my 2020 Ram Longhorn (VIN [XXX] ) has severely bubbled and separated from the underlying structure. The warping creates dangerous glare and distortion in the windshield, compromising forward visibility. Additionally, the deformation extends over the passenger side airbag panel, raising serious concerns about whether the airbag can deploy correctly. This is a well-documented defect on 2019-?"2020 Ram Longhorn dashboards due to adhesive failure, not wear and tear. FCA/Stellantis is aware of the issue and has issued technical bulletins, but many vehicles remain unrepaired. This should be treated as a safety issue and addressed via recall or extended coverage. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Software issue with 12' display unit. The issues began occurring over the past several months. Sirius XM radio frequently searching for signal lasting for hours, and nothing else would play, not the radio nor the Pandora app with UCONNECT. The backup camera displayed on the screen when in D. Then, on 6/10/2025, the backup camera stopped working altogether. When shifted into R, 12' display shows a blue screen with "Camera System Unavailable." The camera control buttons are fixed in position. On 6/11/2025, the 12' display showed Sirius XM subscription update and left me with the Sirius preview screen even though I have a subscription. This lasted several hours. Upon, restart, Sirius shows loading again. Still no backup camera.
Currently Ram has extended its warranty on the back break light due to a leaking/sealant issue on certain models and years. The truck also leaks through the window frame that crakes in these vehicle's. It seems that maybe this isn't being looked at as a safety concern and think it should be. Water leaking in due to this issue is now causing stagnant water. I have 2 kids that sit in the back of the truck and have been subject to breathing in the mold that has built up. I believe the result of mold growth is a great safety concern. I have seen this complaint all over the internet and even on the 5th generation website. I think a full investigation on this should be done immediately. It also seems Ram is aware of the issue because they no longer install this window. We have always had the issue but never understood why the truck had a bad smell to it. It took a very long time to finally realize the smell was coming through the back window and into the cabin but behind the seats. My truck is a 2020 Dodge Ram Laramie 5th generation with less then 25,000 miles on it. I attached a list of webites that immediately pop up when you type Dodge back window leak
Driving down the road, my auto start stop failure light appeared on dash, followed by a check engine light and a battery light. Tried to pull over on the side of the road when I lost all electrical components including power steering, ac, radio etc. the truck slammed itself into park abruptly and turned itself off. I was stranded on the side of the road and nearly got hit by passing cars several times as I was in a curve in the road. After further investigation it has been determined that the bearings inside of the generator (part number: 68623194AB) went out. The part needed to fix the truck is not being made by the supplier and I have been nearly 2 months and counting paying for a truck to sit and look pretty as the truck is completely unusable. One dealership told me this part was on back order for over Five thousand customers.
The 48V Belt Starter Generator failed on my 2020 Ram 1500 with the 5.7L eTorque system. It caused my truck to stall in the middle of a busy intersection at a red light. The battery drained fast, and I couldn-??t move the truck out of the way. I was stuck in a dangerous spot cars were coming around a turn at 45-?"55 mph, and since my hazard lights started dying too, I had to get out in the rain and wave people away so they wouldn-??t hit me. I was honestly afraid for my life. I ended up calling 911 and my insurance to get towed out of there. Before it happened, I saw a battery warning and something about the battery system. A mechanic and a dealer confirmed the issue was the 48V generator. I started calling around for the part, and every dealer I spoke with told me it-??s on national backorder. One told me there were over 2,600 people already waiting for it, another said over 3,000 are on the list and no one has any idea when they-??ll get them. There are a lot of people dealing with this, and it-??s not just an inconvenience it-??s dangerous. This part failing leaves people stranded in traffic, sometimes without power or lights. Something needs to be done. A recall would be the right thing.
1. Safety Issue 1: Cracked Exhaust Manifold & Exhaust Leak Description: Loud knocking noise on startup, strong exhaust fumes entering cabin. Dealer Diagnosis: Both exhaust manifolds cracked, multiple broken bolts. Risk: Potential carbon monoxide poisoning, engine damage, and fire hazard. Dealer Response: Refused repair, quoted $3,500. No assistance from Chrysler. Pattern Failure: Online forums show many owners with identical issues-?"clearly a manufacturing defect. 2. Safety Issue 2: Dashboard Delamination & Toxic Fumes Description: Dashboard surface peeling, strong chemical odor in cabin. Risk: Toxic off-gassing causes headaches/nausea; peeling material obstructs visibility. Pattern Failure: Widespread reports for this model/year-?"faulty adhesive is to blame. Manufacturer Negligence: Chrysler and dealerships are aware but refuse responsibility, blaming "wear and tear." Exhaust leaks and toxic interiors are unacceptable safety hazards-?"yet no recall exists. Request to NHTSA: Investigate these defects for potential recall. Force Chrysler to acknowledge and repair affected vehicles. Urgency: Driving this vehicle is a health risk. NHTSA must act before more are harmed.
Vehicle had a temporary shutoff when doing a rolling stop. The vehicle temporarily lost power when decelerating to the stop sign at 5-10 MPH, then starting again as I began to accelerate. Can not replicate problem again.
My screen is delaminating on a 4 year old vehicle. This should not be happening and was told by my local Dodge dealership that it is not covered under a warranty, nor my extended warranty or a recall. This is poor manufacturing. My vehicle does not sit in direct sunlight.
The vehicle exhaust gasket fails at 50,000 miles on the 2020 Ram pickup causing carbon monoxide to enter the cab when idling. This is very common on this particular truck. Ram has yet to issue a recall.
I was parked with my daughter in the truck and we heard a loud boom sounded like a gun shot. Then I looked my back window was shattered and the frame of the back window was cracked. I have researched this and found others who have had the same issue. Ram will not take care of it. My Mopar maximum coverage will not cover it. This very scary my daughter was in the back seat and glass went everywhere. I am a single father battling cancer and I do not know what to do.
I have a 2020 Ram 1500 pickup, and the rear window leaks on both side of the glass and runs down to the carpet and it is starting to smell really moldy. I took it into the ram dealership on 11-4-24, and they said they have had several complaints on this and said I could pay to have it replaced or they could put silicone around the glass to see if it stops the leak. I wasn't happy with this but I told them to go ahead and reseal it and they did. About a week later it was leaking again. I called Ram Cares both times and they told me that they have lots of complaints about this same issue as I'm having as well. Matter as fact my son also has a 2020 ram 1500 that leaks and my next door neighbor has a 2021 ram 1500 that is also is leaking. I took it back in 12-17-24 and they told me they were told by Ram to reseal it again. Again I'm not happy about this. I am hoping someone will make them fix this issue. I paid a lot on money for this truck to not be able to drive it in the rain or get sick in the process of the mold. If you do a google search, back in 2016 there was several complaints and they failed to address the issue since then. The Ram service lady said they changed it in the 2023 model, but not going to fix the older models because it would cost to much. They are trying to reseal it as putting a band aid over it and if they do stop the leak now someday down the road it will leak again from the sealant decaying and then they won't do nothing. Something needs to be done please.
Started vehicle in parking lot. Monitor did not come on, Put vehicle in reverse and still nothing, no image being displayed on console. After backing up and then selecting forward motion the display came on, but not until about 3 minutes of forward motion.
The truck has an issue with 3rd gear. It wants to jolt forward and if it doesn-??t catch speed it goes into -??limp-?? mode. It-??s a safety feature where it goes as fast as 2nd gear needing service to Electronic throttle body, stop/start system, and electronic stability control.
