I have a 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 that we have covered since it was purchased and we hardly drive it. The vehicle only has 12,147 miles on it and still smelled like a new car until November of 2025. Our cover had been damaged from a storm and we hadn't replaced it, mind you it had only been a couple of weeks that the vehicle wasn't covered. I opened the door and smelled something musty and thought something was wrong. The back seat is wet, there was water dripping from the inside on the front passenger window. I have been paying for the extended warranty and apparently they say it is not covered. Dodge knows there is an issue, I am not the only person to have this issue. I also spoke with the factory and they say they have never heard of any issues with these trucks. I will never recommend a Dogde/Chrysler product to anyone.
I have to say even the service managers at the dealerships are aware of this issue and gave me the phone numbers to call and get help because they have had to repair this issue multiple times. The estimate for the fix was 2,500 plus, which is absolutely ridiculous for an issue that Dodge should be taking care of because they know the vehicle is faulty.
Manufacturing issue regarding rear window leaking causing damage to RF sensor behind the seat causing alarms to go off and none of the key fobs will work. They have extended the warranty on some of the trucks the same year as ours but not all of them They know it is an ongoing issue and should take care of all customers with this issue. As a customer the leak was not obvious for us to see it.
Everyone that has a Ram truck should check for water marks on rear window. Hopefully it's found before the manufacture warranty runs out. Ours is out of warranty a little over a year but under on mileage and so far, they not covering repair or damages. They also need to cover the cleaning as mold has been an issue due to the defect.
This is our first Dodge and will be the last if they don't own up and take care of this obvious manufacturing defect.
Was at the dealer for other recalls and asked them to check the rear glass as carpet was wet. They said it had to be replaced at a cost of over 2700. Never ever mentioned extension of warranty to replace it or at last do the recommended resealing.
Back window seal is defective or not keeping water out
Is there any type of warranty that covers this issue? I feel like this is something the dealership should have taken care of before the vehicle was sold. My vehicle now smells like mildew and my family and I ride around in this vehicle. We’ve been having some really bad rain that’s how I noticed it. I feel like this is something that should be covered under a warranty by the dealership or the manufacturer like I said this should’ve been taken care of before the car was allowed off the lot.
