ABS malfunction indicator lamp, service ABS system and service electronic braking system message intermittently coming on. Sometimes for a short period of time and sometimes stay on for entire trip. Causes cruise control and traction control to be immobilized. My safety is at risk due to the ABS and traction control not being functional. I have not had it diagnosed by a dealer yet, however there are hundreds if not thousands of people on Ram forums complaining of the same issues without Ram taking care of the fix and the costs are on the vehicle owners. Its not something like a radio is having issues, its the braking system, which I would think that RAM or FCA and the NHTSA would think is a pretty serious problem with these vehicles.
My 2017 Ram 2500 had 55K miles when I got a dashboard warning indicating that service of my electronic braking system was needed. I also got warning indicators for ABS and traction control. I had poor braking, no traction control and no cruise control when these warning lights were lit. The dealer diagnosed and replaced the ABS hydraulic control unit (hcu), costing me $750. My research reveals that this is a common problem with this truck at various levels of mileage, and Ram/fca has restricted the distribution of the hcus in recognition of this problem. Ram refuses to acknowledge that this is a product defect. I've owned many other brands of vehicles (BMW, Toyota, Honda), with varying levels of mileage, and none of them have every experienced a failure in ABS components. Ram/fca should acknowledge that these components have a manufacturer's defect and reimburse clients who paid to have the parts replaced.
Truck starts and dies, truck will not start if it sits for long period of time, no dash lights when this happens, takes about 40 mins to get the key to recognize/get started. When taken to the dealer ship a test was ran and said all things I describe (wrong key phobe, loss communication with igintation )

For the past month, I have had intermittent displays of "service electronic braking system" and "service antilock brake system". when this occurs, the cruise control becomes nonoperational. A check of the internet shows that these problems are widely experienced by Dodge Ram owners. The display comes on whether sitting or driving.

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact took the vehicle to milton ruben Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (3508 Washington rd, augusta, ga 30907, (888) 885-0415) to have the occupational restriction control module repaired after receiving a letter from the manufacturer. The dealer performed a reprogram update, which caused the seat belt alert not to function when they were unbuckled. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the update was performed again. The dealer informed the contact that the seat belt alert would not operate because the vehicle never had a seat belt alert feature. The contact stated that the failure persisted and he was wondering if other safety components would malfunction. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed what the dealer stated. The failure mileage was 20,954. Consumer stated both attempts to repair the selt belt problem failed. Dashboard icon or cab chime (alarm) does not give a warning sign.
