I have a clunk to when coming to a stop, the transmission is down shifting, and just before it comes to a complete stop, the truck has a clunk that is felt through the vehicle and heard. at times while stopped the vehicle will lurch forward as though you have been hit from behind. The truck has been back to the dealership several times for this problem, two different dealerships because the first one gave up and was suggested to take it to another dealership per Ram. The truck has been shut down completely two time to put in relearn mode, three transmission replacements, four valve body replacements, and they wanted to put a fourth transmission in the truck, but the mechanic said he doubts thats the problem to Ram, and so now they want to say that its operating as design, Ram asked me to take it to a third dealership, so I did, the mechanic and I went for a drive in the truck, the mechanic said there is definitely a problem, but he would not take on this job because he would not want to deal with Ram and there politics. So that leaves me driving a 2022 Ram 2500 truck I purchased January 28,2023 that did not have this problem until after purchase six months later. Ram customer care has offered money for my inconvenience, I said I just want my truck fixed, they said they are not going to do anymore. I have a vehicle that has been in the shop for a total of eleven months since i have purchase it, has not been fixed, and every time I come to a stop I cringe because I know it is going to clunk and I didn't even take my new travel trailer out the last year because of fear of it breaking down. I paid good money for this truck, and it seems Ram does not care, they got my money and so they got what they wanted. If Ram cannot fix this, then let's talk about getting me in another truck. I am really frustrated, and do not know where to turn. Thank you Stan Raber 503-930-0116 myst1961@gmail.com

I am reporting a recurring safety defect involving hydraulic lifter failure in Ram trucks equipped with the Cummins diesel engine (model years 2019-?"2024). This issue is widely acknowledged by Stellantis and multiple dealers. It typically begins with a knocking sound and has been documented in many cases to progress to complete engine failure. My vehicle has fewer than 20,000 miles. The lifters were already replaced once, which required the cab to be removed. Within less than 400 miles of that repair, the knocking sound has returned. I brought the truck to a second dealer, who confirmed the problem and informed me that Stellantis has an active STAR case acknowledging the defect. They stated there is currently no known permanent fix. This defect presents a serious safety concern. Sudden engine failure while driving, especially under load or at highway speeds, could lead to loss of power, loss of steering/braking assist, and potential accidents. In my situation, I frequently travel with family members who have medical conditions, and being stranded in hazardous or remote conditions poses significant risk. At this point, my vehicle is not reliable or safe to operate. I am requesting NHTSA investigate the hydraulic lifter defect in 2019-?"2024 Ram Cummins trucks due to the safety implications and the lack of an available permanent repair.

The Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor on my 2022 Ram 2500 failed, causing multiple system malfunctions. It triggered inaccurate Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) codes and showed abnormally high idle hours that do not reflect actual vehicle use. This defect is tied to a known issue identified by Stellantis in Technical Service Bulletin #18-002-24, which acknowledges improper MAF sensor calibration or compatibility on vehicles like mine. The bulletin was verbally confirmed by the dealership as applying to my truck. This faulty sensor caused emissions system errors, degraded engine performance, and may impact emissions compliance. There was a persistent check engine light, reduced fuel economy, and the risk of engine derating. The problem was reproduced and confirmed by Encore Chrysler (Mobile, AL), an authorized Ram dealership. Stellantis has agreed to cover the repair under Goodwill, but the issue appears systemic. Safety was potentially compromised by inaccurate sensor data that may cause sudden engine derate or failure during operation. Additionally, the incorrect idle hour readings could affect warranty determinations and long-term diagnostics if not corrected. The check engine light first appeared on May 21, 2024. The vehicle has been out of service since May 22, 2024, and repairs are still pending. The MAF sensor and affected systems are available for inspection upon request. This issue may affect a broader set of Ram 2500 trucks, and given the manufacturer-??s internal bulletin, it may merit a recall review.

Transmission issues began at less then 10K miles when the vehicle was new. Initially experienced a noise and slam into reverse gear. The dealer initially claimed the noises were normal or could not replicate the issue. Over time, the vehicle developed a hard shift between 1st and 2nd gear and between 4th and 5th gear. Despite multiple repair attempts by the dealer, the problem persisted. After spending 94 days at the dealership, the transmission was replaced with a refurbished unit of unknown age at approximately 26,000 miles. According to the dealership representative, a manufacturing defect in the transmission case was ultimately identified as the cause of the failure.

1. Complete Brake Failure. No warning lights came on. There is no emergency warning system for Brake Failure. This could have been catastrophic. This could have turned deadly if we were driving on the highway with no warnings Dec 15, 2024 I drove the truck during the day on the highway and made various stops for Christmas Shopping. I went for dinner with my Family. After dinner climbed into the truck and depressed the break and started the truck. Once the truck started the break pedal could be pushed to the back floorboards. I know this was not right. Turned the truck off and started it again and up it in drive thinking it would correct. It did not turned onto a sidewalk put he truck in park and called a towtruck. 2. The 12" display goes black constantly. Even after several software upgrades. You cannot see heat/radio/ mapping/ phone system nothing it completely shuts down 3. Transmission, when you stop and then drive slowly, press the brakes lift off the brakes slightly the truck lunges forward so you really have to be careful or you will crash into the car in front of you.

The grid heater bolt can fail and fall into cylinder number 6 and cause catastrophic failure causing an accident. The 68RFE transmission is prone to failure and should be repaired/replaced. The hydraulic liters are subject to failure and should be replaced with solid lifters.

A driver was driving their 2022 Ram 2500 to the first job of the day on surface streets in Hollywood, CA. While driving they heard a sudden banging noise from under the truck and lost the ability to accelerate. The driver used the service brakes to stop the vehicle and attempted to put the unit in Park, but Park would not hold the vehicle. The vehicle would also not go into drive or reverse, so they used the parking brakes to secure the vehicle. The vehicle was towed back to the yard and inspected by our internal Fleet Dept. It was found that the driveshaft had come disconnected from the transmission output flange. Three of the four bolts were missing and the fourth was sheared off in the output flange. When the driveshaft came loose it dented the bottom of the cab, tore up a wiring harness and damaged the carrier bearing. The vehicle was towed to a Ram dealer where they replaced the driveshaft and damaged components under warranty and retained the failed parts.

The contact owns a 2022 Dodge Ram. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that on some occasions, the message "Regenerate the Vehicle" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the powertrain software module needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to another dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the dealer determined that the urea pump needed to be replaced. The part was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer, where it was determined that the air filter, the catalytic converter, the nitrous oxide sensor, the temperature sensor, and the particulate matter sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 33,962.

Recall ZA3 Heavy Duty Truck Transmission Dipstick. I received this recall one year ago in November 2022. I called my dealer to get it in for service, they told me those were on back order for 3-6 months. I kept checking back with them in May 2023, and also in August 2023 and was told both times parts were still on back order. Still NOT fixed, and it-??s really worrying!!
