A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

In January I went to Jiffy Lube to get an oil change. Have to say, this was first time to ever use JL. But, it was convenient to my new job. Prior to this I always went to my fav mechanics shop for oil changes. After the change I started noticing oil on my driveway. The car had roughly 28/29000 miles on it. Had my mechanic check it out and he said it looked like it was coming from near the oil filter and to clean the oil off with a de-greaser and look at it closely with it clean. Oil was still pooling on that part of the engine so, I went back to JL. They looked at it and told me it was coolant. Even though the oil was 1/2 a qt. low. Duh. They agreed to change the filter and admitted there could have been an issue with the O-ring on the filter they installed. The problem is still existing. Not sure how to proceed at this point. I guess I'm going to explore the manufacturer route first.

oil cooling line broken/leaking

Noticed oil drips in the parking lot where I work, couldnt believe it would be from my new car, but they were. Slowly got worse over time. Opened the hood and saw fluid all over the top of the motor. Took it to the dealership who repaired it under warranty, but no assurances it would not recur.

This is a major job, the intake manifold has to be removed from the engine and the antifreeze drained. The ticket is not clear as to what they actually did, but it required replacement of the oil filter (carrier?), new oil filter and change of oil. Apparently the cooling line runs thru the motor to the external oil cooler? The tech wasnt being very informative and the repair ticket is cryptic. Apparently there is a technical service bulletin on this, but you will not know that unless you can access them. I bought this car so I wouldnt have to deal with things like this, too bad it let me down. I guess the next one will be a Ford.
