I was on my way home from a concert one night and I look down at my dash and nearly every light is blinking at me. The car showed no signs of mechanical issues (sounds, jerks, etc. - just flashing lights). If I recall the lights were: check engine light, cruise control light, emergency break light, AT OIL TEMP light, traction control light, and more. I was just pulled over in a parking lot before I got on the highway and turned the car off to see if the lights would go off. That did not solve the problem so I decided to try and drive it home since the car showed no signs of mechanical issues. As I try to accelerate from a dead stop, the car jerks and jumps and nearly squeals the tires over and over again.

I didn't feel comfortable driving the car on the highway with its condition so I had it towed home. Drove it to a local mechanic shop (still jerked when starting from dead stop, but once up to speed, no issues or jerking). They said my torque converter was stripped and I needed a new or rebuilt CVT for 2-3 grand. Was about to sell the car and took it over to the Subaru dealership for a second opinion. They confirmed it was the torque converter HOWEVER they said it was covered under some extension of the warranty and rebuilt it for free! I don't know how a car with 168k miles is still under any kind of warranty, but I didn't ask questions and took the free rebuilt transmission!

cvt transmission valve box

The Brake, AT Oil Temp and the Traction control lights on the dash keep coming on. Flashing. I am told that rear wheels are not getting any power and the car is now driving like a front wheel drive vehicle. 1400.00 to fix this and the car had only 79K miles on it when this happened!!! This is my 3rd Subaru and I am NOT happy about this issue!
